Option to hide "DONE" tasks - just like it's possible for "CLOSED" tasks

Hide done Status like closed status
Marcus Woller
There should be a possibility to hide the "done" status, just like the "closed" status. We mostly use it to differentiate between tasks that have been completed or declined. Therefore, the "done" status is not needed to appear in lists by default.

Alexis Crabtree: There could just be an option on list and task views - "hide done statuses". Then there'd be no change to the behaviour as it exists now but you'd be able to hide dnoe statuses with the click of a button! Just like how you can currently choose to show closed statuses with a click - except for "done" the default would be reversed.
Alexis Crabtree
If this gets made, could it perhaps be a ClickApp and not the default? My team actually relies on a few workflows where we NEED to see something that has a "done" status applied (at least for a while) so done tasks
defaulting
to hidden would be really inconvenient for us :/ I can totally understand the workflows explained here though, so like I said perhaps it could be a ClickApp that can be toggled off or on depending on the workspace preference :)Ethan Whitted
Alexis Crabtree: Agreed. 👍
Marcus Woller
Alexis Crabtree I agree that it should be a setting and that you can show done tasks like the closed tasks
Guy Mannerings
Alexis Crabtree Exactly.
The point of the "Done" status is that it shows where "Closed" would not. So this would completely break the functionality of the "Done" status if this were to be the default.

We use it in exactly the same way. We have a done status called "dropped". Would love to have this feature.
Caroline Ginty
Thanks for the feedback! Would it also solve your use case if we were to enable multiple closed statuses, as requested in https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/multiple-closed-status?
Alexandr Prisekin
Caroline Ginty: Yes please!
Dan Barcus
Caroline Ginty: Yes it would.

Ralph Stokes
Caroline Ginty: I hate to be a pain but both would be best!
Andy Burton
Caroline Ginty: yes please

Cody Dobbins
Caroline Ginty: It would solve it for many cases but closed status may behave differently with some features so both options will be ideal
Annalee Shelton
Caroline Ginty: Thanks! This would be a big help. I'm with Ralph and Cody that both would be idea., but just this would be a huge step.
Debbie Miller
Caroline Ginty: 100% it would help. A lot of times a task is cancelled, or has another "done" status but they're still in our "open task" lists. Would love to see them go away like the "closed" tasks, but it would keep the reason why it's closed ie. cancelled, no longer needed, meeting notes, etc.
Luka Djukic
Caroline Ginty: Yes it would, thanks.
Marcus Woller
Caroline Ginty: Yes that would be great
C
Chris LaRocco
Caroline Ginty: Yes it would
Abbe Philo
Debbie Miller: yes! I want canceled tasks to be considered closed but retain the label of canceled!
H
Heidi Krum
Caroline Ginty: both please!
Annalee Shelton
We need this too please!

I use Closed plus apply a Canceled tag, so that for the historical record it's clear a task was canceled not done, but the task no longer appears in views by default.
Josh Sorenson (VP of Systems)
Can't you just filter it out using filters?
Kaylee Hatch
Josh Sorenson (VP of Systems): In theory, but it's been really buggy for me. I've submitted a bug ticket. But still, if it's considered "closed" it might as well be treated the same.
Christo
Josh Sorenson (VP of Systems): I also want this to disappear from my active dashboards which I use to manage my day until the home screen gets updated to be more useful.
Rather make it the default to hide it, and I can filter it in for those times where I need to look back.
Samuel Vitzthum
Josh Sorenson (VP of Systems): You can. But relations will not be filtered. So tasks with done status will appear in the selection when trying to connect tasks with relations.

Chris LaRocco
I agree. Once I have a task that is "cancelled" I no longer wish to track it as active.
Tasha Raynard
Agreed! I'm surprised this isn't an option already. Just like we can add multiple "Not Started" status', it would be nice to be able to add multiple "Done" status'. We often use 2 "Done" status': Complete & Not Needed. Both are Done and close, but one status tells us tasks were completed, the other tells us the client no longer required it and the task was not completed.
