Numbered headings in docs

Numbered headings help a lot with conceptual navigation in docs - for example, it makes it easier to refer to e.g. "Section 1.5".
It would be good if this was a doc-level option to enable for the whole doc/page.

Docs that automatically generates numbers for section headers. This would be particularly useful for legal documents, which often require explicitly listed sections that follow a numbered pattern.
