This is an extremely important feature. It removes stress from your userbase and frustration when it happens. And happy customers are more likely to stay. It also takes off work from your support teams, and they can focus on other important work.
Also as some other comments already stated, this is not legal in many countries, and at some point you may face legal action from someone you've charged without consent. Thankfully your support is great and fixed my problem with this.

Ok, I think it's very important to ask for customer approval before making a charge, it's not enough to have it in the small print of the app's policies, it's important that the UX is 100% satisfactory and in that sense making charges and then noticing it when the bill arrives doesn't leave anyone happy, they can avoid it by sending an alert when a charge is generated to the card and above all, before processing it!

I believe this is not a request we should have to vote for, you have a legal obligation to let your customers know if and when they are being charged.

what happened today wasn't acceptable by any means.... i woke up and found that money was deducted from my bank account unwillingly without any permission or even informing me that's gonna happen .... which makes it unsafe to leave my card connected to the clickup site knowing something like this could happen anytime.... Actually it could've been easier if you just informed me that adding someone as member would deduct the money so either to convert them to a guest or a limited member ( view only) or proceed with the purchase not taking money like that without any previous notice .... Actually, I'm really frustrated from what've happened

I have just been directed here from clickup support as this has happened to me. They said I could vote on it!. I think it is a joke that this is nearly 5 years old and they still have not done anything and are still directing angry customers here!

Simon Le Monnier agree. I’ve just been redirected here as well. Ridiculous. There are other things for which they give a warning. Why not additional seats?

Yes, we need that feature. As it is now, it seems like you're hoping for Clickup to accidentally add users in order to generate higher revenue.

Today I thought I was adding a guest, but apparently I added a member. Luckily, my client notified me within a few hours, and I could revert the mistake. Support then told me that if reverted within 1 day, ClickUp won't charge, so I'm glad this was a mistake without consequences.
But I would have expected a few more bells and whistles before I would be charged a few hundred bucks.

Yes, four years is far to long to let this feature slide. It is highly irregular and inappropriate to allow users of a platform to easily accidentally incur additional charges with no clear confirmation or warning. CU has confirmation steps for other actions with potential significant implications (deleting a list, folder or space), this is no different.

I see this has been active for 4 years. It seems a simple fix with so many benefits.
I accidentally just converted a guest to a limited member. ClickUp charged me for that without any warning or advice on pricing. Surely that is not an acceptable practice.
Since the system charged me, I have been scouring the online help and found that there is no clear information on what a limited member subscription fee is.
It would be better user experience if there was a warning that you will be charged prior to making the selection. I imagine this fix would help a lot of people and also save ClickUp $$ cost of the admin from people asking for refunds (which is what I did). It would also provide better client satisfaction with the transparency in charges.

We have the ClickUp "Business Plan" that allows us to have view-only internal guests without additional license fee. However, ClickUp allows a non-admin member to share a task list with full rights to those view-only internal guests. If a non-admin member shares a task list that way (almost always by mistake because they have no idea how the licensing works and sharing with full rights is the default option), then that view-only internal guest is implicitly and automatically promoted to be a "permission controlled internal guest". That promotion results in us getting charged a full license fee for that guest. No non-admin user should be allowed to increase our licensing fee. It shouldn't happen implicitly or explicitly. Only admin users must be allowed to do anything that affects the license fee.
