New goals and milestones view
Guy Mannerings
I would love to see a Goals and Milestones-only view or part of Gantt charts.
Goals are on of the most important things in a project or task management system. But currently there is no way to see them on a Gantt chart or Timeline.
It would help so much if we could see a Gantt chart, Timeline, or new view that only displays our goals and, if you want, expand those goals in that view so you can see its tasks and sub-tasks.
This view would also show milestones (which should be part of goals).
I have been trying out Nifty a bit in regards to this, and it has a view that I really think the ClickUp team should consider.
It is their Milestone view, where you can see your Milestones on a calendar, which can then be expanded out to see the tasks and sub-tasks.
Now, really, these are not Milestones but Goals. This is what I would like to see in ClickUp.
In the example below, I have called it Goal 1 and Goal 2, and you can see that you can expand that out to see the goal's tasks.
This, to me, would be a great new Goals + Milestones view or Gantt chart setup for ClickUp. It could go part of the Timeline view, but should be opened up to Unlimited users, as we can use goals.
This is a very clean way of seeing your goals and their tasks.

It could be as simple as allowing us to use goals on the Gantt chart and filter out everything else, not making it visible.
The Goals would understand what tasks are needed to fulfil it, and where the milestones fall.
It could be as simple as the attached image.
It could also be done in a similar fashion in timeline view (although I would argue for Gantt use so that Unlimited users can use it too).

Guy Mannerings: Great suggestion. This would be really helpful! As a work around I'm using milestones to define goals and then creating a corresponding sequence of tasks and subtasks which terminate with achieving the intended goal (milestone). Then I've created a view which displays milestones only to see goals within a department (space). It seems to be working ok so far, but your solution of displaying goals and subordinate tasks on a Gantt chart would be much nicer, and it would have the added benefit of allowing us to use milestones as they are intended rather than co-opting them for goals.

Josh Sommer: Thanks! Glad you like the suggestion. I think it would be an easy way to see your goals and milestones.
My current workaround is to use Timeline view, and give every task I want to see on it a Goal custom value.
But it's not perfect because I have to give the same goals custom labels to all the subtasks, which is time-consuming.
What view do you have those shows Milestones only?
