I’d like to request a new automation feature:

when the task description is updated, the subtask description should automatically update as well.

I’ve already set up an automation where the task description is copied to the subtasks,

but the issue is that when the main task gets updated, the subtasks don’t reflect those changes.

Could you please consider adding this functionality in the next release?

There's countlesss places where we need this.

We need to be able to automate subtask statuses based upon the movement of the parent task.

All I want is to have an automation where if the status of a parent task is marked "DONE" -> the status of a subtask can be marked as "RDY TO START".

The only possible automation close to what i thought would work is:

"when task status changes -> change status"

problem is it's literally useless since there are no qualifying parameters to filter automation through ie:

"do this automation ONLY on subtasks"

On the "when this happens" side there are conditions like if TASK X has ABC as a tag, then start the automation.

but on the "then do this action" side, there are no conditions... just actions.

i assumed that - because there are conditions on the way into an automation - there would be conditions on the way out ie:

"do this action if SUBTASK A has 123 as a tag"

I would like automations that populate all subtasks to match changes made to the parent task.

This would include custom fields, priority (& other options) when the parent task is updated or created.

For example, when I create a task in a list that uses a custom field relevant to all subtasks, I would like the automation to run in that list so I don't have to batch select the custom fields for each subtask as well.

I would love the ability to update all subtask statuses when the parent task status is updated - eg. Moved from quoted to approved.

Manually updating all sub task statuses is time consuming and repetitive and I can't find a way to make it work with automations.

From support: Add an automation action that closes subtasks on trigger. For instance, when a task status changes from To-Do to Complete, close subtasks.

Close all subtasks automatically when you close the parent task.
