Problem:
Currently, PDFs in ClickUp are buried inside task attachments or Docs. There's no centralized way to browse, preview, or search across PDF files at the folder or space level. For teams that rely heavily on documents (contracts, specs, SOPs, permits), this creates friction — team members have to remember which task a PDF was attached to, or dig through multiple locations to find what they need.
Proposed Solution:
Add a new "PDF View" (or "Documents View") option at the folder and space level, similar to how List, Board, Gantt, and other views work today. This view would:
• Display all PDFs attached anywhere within the folder/space in a single, browsable grid or list
• Include a search bar to filter PDFs by filename, tags, or even full-text content
• Show a quick preview panel (thumbnail + first-page preview) without having to open each file
• Allow sorting/filtering by upload date, task association, uploader, or custom tags
• Optionally support drag-and-drop upload directly into the view
Use Case:
We're a consulting firm managing multiple client projects. Each project folder contains contracts, proposals, permits, invoices, and technical documents as PDFs. Our team needs to quickly locate and reference these files without navigating through individual tasks. A dedicated PDF view would save significant time and reduce the risk of working from outdated or wrong documents.
Benefit:
This would make ClickUp a stronger single-source-of-truth for project teams that deal with heavy document workflows — especially in construction, legal, consulting, and operations where PDFs are the standard format.
