Multi-Level grouping for Timesheets
Daniel Urbano
Currently, the ability to analyze time tracked is somewhat limited in the Timesheet view. We require more granular and flexible options for grouping timesheet entries to gain better insights into where time is being spent across our work hierarchy.
Specifically, we need the ability to group timesheet data within the Timesheet view by up to three levels of our ClickUp location hierarchy:
Space
Folder
List
This would allow us to easily see time breakdown by different departments, projects, and specific work areas.
Additionally, it would be highly beneficial to have the option to group timesheet entries by other relevant task attributes, such as:
Status: To understand the time spent on tasks at different stages of completion.
Priority: To analyze time allocation based on the urgency of tasks.
Custom Fields: This is crucial for our specific reporting needs. We use custom fields to categorize work in ways that the standard hierarchy doesn't cover (e.g., by client, project type, or specific service provided). Grouping by custom fields would unlock powerful reporting capabilities tailored to individual workspace needs.
Why is this important?
Enhanced grouping in the Timesheet view would significantly improve our ability to:
Accurately track time spent on different projects, clients, or areas of work.
Identify potential bottlenecks or areas where time is being unexpectedly consumed.
Generate more detailed and relevant reports for internal analysis and client billing.
Gain a clearer understanding of resource allocation across various levels of our workspace.
This feature would greatly enhance the usability and reporting power of ClickUp's time tracking functionality.
Suggested Implementation (Optional):
Ideally, the Timesheet view would have a "Group By" option similar to Board view, allowing users to select up to three levels of grouping from the available options (Space, Folder, List, Status, Priority, Custom Fields). The ability to drag and drop or reorder the selected grouping levels would also be a valuable addition for customized viewing.
Thank you for considering this feature request.
