Apparently when you merge two fields together, if the old field (the one that gets deleted) is used in a Form (my use case is in a rule condition) then the condition remains blank and will not run correctly. To fix it you have to rebuild the rule condition.

It would be nice if when fields are merged that they would automatically update in Forms.
