Mentioning someone in a task without them becoming a watcher
Muazam Rafique
Sometimes, I want to mention someone within a card because I want them to see a particular comment. Doing so, adds them as a watcher and they then get notified about all subsequent changes to that task.
This frustrates some users. They could change their notification settings to solve this. However, even this for some is asking for too much. :S
It could be useful if there was an option to NOT create someone as a watcher for a task if they are mentioned in a comment for that task.

This is becoming a bottleneck for our team as we frequently tag individuals and other teams for their input, which then results in their inbox notifications doubling unecessary as they are auto-added as Watchers on every task someone tags them on.

Should be relatively easy to add this as an option under the Watcher settings, so to turn off "When I am @ mentioned in a task or subtask"

This is becoming a significant issue for us, particularly as it affects our managers and executives who need to provide input on open items, but are then bombarded with notifications because they are auto-added as Watchers.

This is absolutely necessary.
If ClickUp pretends to be the most efficient organization software, is not logical to add a watcher only for a mention. For future comments, this subtracts time from the mentioned person.

I agree with this. "Single use" mentioning, so that they can be included only when relevant to them.

It might be useful to at the time of the comment have one of the additional "floating" icons near the comment be "do not add as watcher"
