Make comments more visible in notification emails
Matthias Kuhn
Notification emails are showing a lot of "noise" around the content, while the content itself is not very visible. It would be nice to improve that.
The newly written content - which I think is the most important part - is shown dimmed (dark gray on light gray) and much smaller than the title and colorful icons.
It would be nice to improve the signal to noise ratio by increasing the visibility of "new" content, i.e. the newly written comment and reducing the visibility of repeated content i.e. title, "New comment", etc.
I wouldn't mind having only the comment as text and the name of the author below and a link to the ticket (as text too and not as a colorful button) at the bottom of the mail.

Agree 100%. We are having a hard time with buy in due to this difficult to read email. If we have the ability to do an email template for comments then companies could customize as they see fit. Here is an example we like.
It's a shame we can't have them also show up in Outlook staying in a thread. Not sure ClickUp would have control over this, but it would be nice.
But if the comment history was included like a normal email chain sometimes does should be an option as well in notification settings.
The above simple things would help with buy in for our guests (fellow employees) that IT pulls into projects.

Yes, this would be very helpful! As part of making comments more visible in notification emails, please change the subject line of the email notification so it's clear that the email is a notification about a task comment. Right now, the name of the task is the subject of the notification, which is confusing and it's taken me longer to reply about comments as I don't realize that the email is about a new comment until I read it.
Something like "New Comment on Task "[Task Name]" would be really, really helpful to make it clear that it's a comment.
ALSO, separate topic but it would be super helpful if the desktop app itself in the task/app bar, on both Windows and Mac, could signal that there are unread comments, by showing the # of unread comments (similar to what you'll see on a mobile device when looking at apps with unread notifications, and in some apps on Mac).

It would be great also that when we receive a notification for a comment posted in a thread, the View comment link takes us to the expanded reply thread and directly to the new comment. Right now it takes us to the top comment on the thread and we need to open the replies and scroll down to see the latest comment we were notified of, it's confusing and time-consuming.

THe other issue is that we need to see comment history in notifications... A single comment notification gives no context to the running history of comments.

Agreed. A Much cleaner, data centric email notification would be appreciated very much. It doesn't need to look like a post it note. It needs to quickly and cleanly convey information.

When a teammate reply to one of my comments in a task, I need to find that the reply is for which comments. It is not clear in notification email nor in the link embeded in the email body.

It's difficult to read a long, formatted comment in its email notification because the formatting does not show in the email (i.e. line breaks, lists, etc.) Would like to see formatting made in a comment show up on the email notification.

Agreed!

Zeb: I'm glad to see that work on this is planned. Please note that currently when the "comment" is submitted via email, absolutely NONE of the content (nor the sender) shows up in the notification at all.

Hey Karen Straus, thanks for reaching out to us! I certainly understand the desire to read comments right from the notification and will keep an eye on this feature request.
At the moment we have our resources allocated to other features, but I will be sure to check in with the rest of our team on this one.
