Link and unfurl internal ClickUp items like Goals, Lists, and Views
R
R C
It would be great if the /slash command would allow linking not to just tasks, but projects, lists, and goals for reference. This is a feature I use in meetings. I am hopeful the new docs/wiki feature coming will allow to link to those areas in ClickUp, and not just tasks, if the capability to do this is not going to be available in the other text editors: task description, comments, list/project description. Thanks Guys!

Hey everyone! We’re redesigning how links to tasks, comments, docs, and other ClickUp objects appear, and we would love your feedback. Please take this 2-minute survey to share your thoughts.

Mentioning assets would be wonderful. Much like how we can mention tasks within docs. Being able to mention a list, project, or goal would help make SOPs and Onboarding Docs so much easier.

Hey, everyone! Thank you for following along on this post and providing your feedback!
To keep everyone informed, we've updated the status of this Canny post to reflect current product initiatives.
We are prioritizing enhancements that will encompass the most usability amongst all our users.
This request is still very much on our radar and the ClickUp team will keep this post up to date when we have more to share regarding this feature in the future!

Any update on when this is scheduled to be done?

Hey, just wanted to add some additional detail: Just wanted to be sure that this would also entail the reciprocal linking you guys already have going on: So if a goal is mention in a task's description, somewhere on the Goal's info page you'd see "mentioned in" and that task mentioned. So in my case, if the task that mentions the goal is named "2010-09-13 meeting" I could clearly see that the goal was conceived of by the team in a meeting. This is very useful info.
Thanks guys!

Zeb: In addition to R C's suggestions: specifically inside Docs pages, we should be able to not just link to Clickup elements but unfurl them to summaries.
This is powerful for creating project development pages with status, live reports, executive overviews, standup documents, team progress updates, etc. This would almost turn the Docs system into a dashboard creation tool.
Once Clickup adds charts, this will be even better. But for now, just embedding task detail, list detail, portfolio status, goal status, etc. on Doc pages would be powerful.

Adding:
Clickup docs too should be recognized as a type. And internal links of any kind inserted into docs should all be recognized and unfurled.
And so important: clicking an internal link in a doc (or anywhere in clickup) should open in the same tab, not a new browser tab.
Use case: I copy page links and paste them into other pages, but instead of being able to use them to navigate around the doc as expected, every click spawns a new clickup instance in a new tab.
Zeb
Bruce Cannon: Agreed completely and we will absolutely get this done with Docs 2.0, early next year!

Bruce Cannon: Bruce, I know this is getting on a year old now, but great suggestion I just came upon, you were ahead of your time. This "Networked Thought" approach that is a pillar of Roam Research would be great to have here in ClickUp. Here is a request talking about it if you have not voted yet:
Or, if you have another I'll gladly support, just point me to it!!
Cheers!

John Jones: So true! Every internal reference should create a context-hint or -tooltip, everywhere. I'll go vote for the other suggestion you shared. Thanks!
In addition, in the context of this current suggestion: the current unfurling implementation leaves a lot of room for improvement:
- We should be able to control on a case by case basis whether it unfurls or not, and change it later. Every unfurl should have an undo (and a redo).
- We should be able to set a default state as global admin for unfurl or not.
- Currently in pages, unfurls ignore the current formatting context. And some types of unfurls can't be formatted. An example is lists.
- Page links and tasks now unfurl to a little badge which is to small for title to be readable, or of any use at all.
- Page link badge unfurls do not obey basic HTML: we can't right click on them and select "open in new tab."
- Page link badge unfurls open in a lightbox, which does not work. First, because the page tree is not accessible. Second, because the "page within a page within a page..." problem. Third, because it lacks the all-important "open in full page" button.

Bruce Cannon: Great thank you Bruce!
I agree we should be able to customize that as a top feature out of ClickUp. Fibery is saying they will offer this soon, you can read about it here:
I would love to see ClickUp start to get more of this going, as the basic unfurl is a great start, but essentially unchanged since I can remember, and I've been a user over 2 yrs.
