Let Brain Artifacts read live Workspace data and save shared state
Matheus de Almeida
We use ClickUp Brain to build interactive Artifacts for our production team: a global project calendar with Gantt, month, week and day views, team filters, and a creation table that generates schedules from our business-day rules and holidays.
The Artifact works visually, but it can't connect to the rest of the Workspace:
- It can't read live tasks, folders, lists or custom fields (in our case "Etapa", "PM" and "Líder"). The runtime reports "query:hierarchy / query:dataQuery was refused: this feature is not enabled for the workspace".
- It can't save shared state ("collab.open was refused"). Anything a coordinator creates inside the Artifact only stays in their browser tab, so the rest of the team never sees it.
- It can't create folders or trigger Automations, so creating a new project in the Artifact can't spin up the project folder in our Hierarchy.
What we'd love:
- Live, permission-aware read access to tasks, hierarchy and custom fields from Artifacts.
- Shared, persistent state for Artifacts, so a whole team can use them as a real app.
- Write actions beyond tasks: creating folders and lists from templates, and triggering Automations or Super Agents.
- A clear admin setting (or plan info) that shows which Artifact capabilities are enabled in a Workspace.
This would turn Artifacts from static reports into real internal apps connected to existing projects, which is exactly what operations teams need.
