Layouts by task type
considering

Problem:
We manage different types of work within ClickUp, and how sections are organized in ClickUp Tasks do not always work across each type. In some tasks, for example I want subtasks and fields front and center, while in others, I need to bring relationships front and center.
Ask:
- Give the ability to have a different task layout for each task type.
- This would allow each type to have a layout that is better organized for that type of work.

Hey there! 👋
Task types were just the start to help get different types of work organized in ClickUp. The team is working on various follow-up projects that will help make ClickUp tasks better fit the different types of work we manage.
I wanted to get this form out for those who want to be a bit more involved as we build out the next version. Whether you want to participate in betas or just want to be kept in the loop with designs, please fill out the form below.
P.S: Thanks for everyone's thoughts on the last post, a lot of great examples of things we want to help solve for folks here. 🙏

Hey, everyone! We’re excited to share that we’ve created new statuses in Canny to provide more transparency and clarity around the progress of feature requests. We've updated the status of this request to reflect the updated status. The Product Manager will provide updates on this post when they have new details to share!

Erra Faye Zabat definitely appreciate the long overdo canny clean up. this one in particular not being marked as "future" is pretty disappointing, as this feels integral to the promised vision of CU. 😔
Natalie Williams
Devin Shea agreed. There are several existing features that need refinement to work optimally. It would be great if the CU team would prioritize resolving those ongoing (many times for years) community requests over adding more features. At this point, there should never be an issue with things like remapping subtasks not prompting, yet my team ran into that more than a dozen times this week alone.
Fix the bugs.
Refine & optimize existing features.
THEN add more features.

Yeah. I would like to be able to create a simple clean task detail page for my clients (description, attachments and docs) and hide all the clickup noise!

Improve relationships! Ability to organize and have more insight to relationships would open this up to be more of a CRM

In the right Sidebar, currently all emails sent and received get parked in comments. Option to have seperate email tab for accessing entire email converstaion in a focussed manner should be there.

Rearrange order of Section Tabs/List in Task view
Guy Mannerings
Adding to the new option to toggle on and off Section Tabs in Task view.
Could we get the option to choose the order of the Sections Tabs and the vertical Sections?
So Subtasks can come first, the Action Items, then Details, or whatever we like - both for the vertical and horizontal tab version.
Ryan MacAlmon
Ivan Villa -As you guys are thinking about layout and fields task type. Keeping the Section tab the default UI would be great.
- I agree with Guy Mannerings here about the ability to reorder.
- It would be great as an admin to be able to set this for all users; making onboarding easier.
- What about having Attachements a tab as well.
Guy Mannerings
Ryan MacAlmon Ivan Villa Definitely need Attachments as a tab. Them being under "Details" doesn't make sense, just on a language level.
I would change "Details" to simply say "Custom Fields", and then a new tab for Attachments.

Allow to hide and rearrange some of the "by default" task attributes: Priority, Task Time, Time Estimate, etc.

Customize task properties

I think it would be great to have an option to customize the view of the task and its properties. I want to create a CRM list and I don't need some of the properties (like Time Track, Relationships, Tags) and I would also like to add my own (for example have multiple people assigned but with different roles)

Customise right sidebar
It would be great if we could customise the right-hand sidebar, so it can not only be used for Updates or Relationships.
Also, it would be great to be able to select a default view for it (e.g., all tasks open on Relationships instead of Updates (Solo users have little use for Updates, but we do for Relationships)).
Finally, it would be great to be able to move Relationships to the main area and hide Updates altogether, so there is more space and so that Relationships can be seen quickly and easily.

Add option to have custom fields at the top near status

I'd love it if we could see the custom fields (or only certain custom fields - like the pinned ones) near the top without having to scroll so far down.
