Kanban-style WIP limits
complete
Jeremy Higgs
Kanban has a practice of limiting the work in progress in a particular stage.
It would be good to have this!
e.g. in a particular stage, the ability to define a soft limit on the WIP, which could be:
- number of tasks in that stage for the project
- total of estimated hours of tasks in that stage for the project
- total number of tasks assigned to a user
- total estimated hours of tasks assigned to a user
When that WIP limit is exceeded, you'd want to highlight that it's over the limit.

WIP (auto) based in task status

I'm thinking about how to make more visible the work in progress and an option is painting the progress bar with the color status of the subtasks.
What you think about this?

Work in progress limit

A key feature of a successful scrum or scrumban board is enforcing work in progress limits.
I'd like the ability to enforce the maximum number of tasks for each of the statuses in a space to facilitate it.

Ivan Villa: Yeah!! Waiting for that for a long time
This feature is very important for people because It's one of the first steps to implement Kanban method and find all bottlenecks

Add WIP limit to a column on Board view
Lucas Schapira
Adding a Work in Progress limit is very useful when using Kanban, and it would be nice to have that limit represented on the board view. It shouldn't block users from passing the limit (dragging a card to a column that already reached the limit of cards), but it should highlight that the column is over its WIP limit.

Yes! We're using Kanban and missing this feature so much. Our team has an agreement on the WIP but this is nowhere to be seen on ClickUp, which makes things harder to manage.

I just noticed this blog post https://clickup.com/blog/what-is-a-kanban-board/ mentions that you can limit WIP on a board.

One of the most important tenants of Kanban is to limit work in progress. This could easily be implemented as a soft limit as suggested by the OP.

Super important

Yes please - would be ideal for our team and ways of working we want to adopt
