Inquiry and Feature Request - Task State Movement Restriction
Ritesh Sinha
Dear ClickUp Support Team,
I am reaching out to inquire about a specific functionality within ClickUp and to suggest a feature enhancement if it does not currently exist.
Inquiry: Does ClickUp currently have a feature that allows us to restrict users from moving tasks from one state to another until completion of checklist or subtasks etc, optionally on a task-by-task basis? We have explored the platform but have not been able to find a feature that meets these specific needs.
Feature Request (if not available): Restricting User Ability to Move Task States
Description:
Should this feature not currently exist, we would like to request the ability to restrict users from changing the state of tasks under certain conditions. This restriction should be optional and customizable for individual tasks.
Use Case:
In our workflow, certain tasks require controlled progression through different stages. Without restrictions, there is a risk of process inconsistencies and errors due to premature or unauthorized state changes. The ability to restrict state movement for specific tasks would ensure adherence to our process protocols and enhance workflow efficiency.
Ideal Implementation:
- An option at the task level to restrict state movement.
- The ability to select which users or roles are authorized to move the task to the next state.
- Flexibility to enable or disable this restriction as needed for each task.
Benefits:
- Enhanced control over task progression.
- Prevention of unintended state changes.
- Improved adherence to process protocols.
This feature, if not already a part of ClickUp, would be a valuable tool for our team and potentially for other users who require a more controlled approach to task management.
