TLDR; Having “all time” limits for Dashboard use renders the feature useless for free and unlimited plans. Move to a monthly limitation model instead of an all time limitation to improve UI for individual users. AND/OR increase transparency around dashboard limitations in advertising.
My rant, for more context:
I'm an individual user, using Clickup for personal and freelance needs. One of my favorite features was the power of Dashboards - until I hit a wall on the free forever plan. 60 uses allowed all time, including VIEWING the dashboard and EDITING cards - I ran out within a few days.
It prompted me to upgrade to the Unlimited Plan for more uses of Dashboards - so I'm thinking okay, I'll pay the $84/year to unlock it… within DAYS, I'm locked out again, being prompted to upgrade to the business plan. So frustrating!
Partially, this is my fault for not reading deeper into the terms, but I also think ClickUp has some responsibility here for not being fully transparent with the dashboard feature and what is possible on the pricing pages. I had do a deeper dive to find out that the unlimited plan has a limit of 100 uses of dashboards. (only 40 more uses than the free plan). Again, theway ClickUp defines uses is infuriating as a user. It makes the feature useless for lower tier plans. It would have been better if I was locked out from the get go on the lower tier plans.
I decided to cancel my paid plan all together and just work with the free forever plan, finding workarounds to the limitations. I was also excited and already reccommending ClickUp to friends for personal and small business use (but now will tell them it's not worth the money - and to use free without dashboards or pay for something else).
I would like to see ClickUp change the terms for the lower tier plans, so that the limits would be something like 60/100 uses PER MONTH versus ALL TIME for the free/unlimited plans respectively. So that it might lock me out at the end of the month, but I know my ‘credit’ will renew on the first.
