Inbox 3.0: bring back great features that 2.0 had
Kevin Quisquater
We LOVE that ClickUp is improving, but 3.0 should not remove UX shortcuts or features that were making dealing with notifications awesome in 2.0.
Here are our issues with Inbox 3.0:
- It's 2 lists to check all the time now, instead of one. Every time we want to look at notifications, we have to go to "Important" and then navigate to "Other" and go through that list too. We wish we had the option of having a single list with everything, like on 2.0 (as an option, so that users who want two lists could still keep it, but we would have an "All" list).
- We can't see the assignees of tasks by hovering over the notification. That's a big loss of a feature that 2.0 had. Now, if we want to check who the task is assigned to, we have to open every task of every notification (and we very often want to know who is the assignee of the task).
- If we open a notification and clear it, it automatically opens the next notification, instead of bringing us back to the inbox. We'd like a setting to go back to the inbox after clearing a notification, similar to the setting Gmail has when you archive or delete an email: you can choose to be brought back to the list, or to automatically open the next email.
- When we open a notification, we see information about the task, but we don't see comments for instance. So if we need to have a quick look at the task, we now have to open the notification, then open the task, then look at comments, then close the task, then clear the notification, and then exit the next notification to go back to the inbox.

one inbox.
Why is anything else being considered other than one inbox? if you want one click filters after that then great... but one inbox.
The perfect analogy to what ClickUp has done is a car company putting square wheels and tires on their cars.
Wake up one morning and your car company has updated your car with some sweet new square wheels. Surprise!
Whatever it would take for a car company to invest the resources into deciding that was a good idea, is what must have happened at ClickUp.
Two people on my team are revolting against Clickup because they can't find replies after they replied to them once, or after they clear the alert.
I've been using clickup for two months and it STILL takes me 10 minutes to find some messages.
ONE INBOX!!!!!

Clickup Support asking us to submit ideas like this is infuriating. It tells me that ClickUp doesn't use their own software, or the culture there doesn't welcome feedback from internal users.
Square wheels are the future! And if they aren't lets wait until we get hundreds of complaints before we decide we were wrong.

New Inbox. > I have to:
- Open each task - 1'st click
- Change to ACTIVITY VIEW - 2nd click (then I lose Details view)
- Comment
That means 3 clicks... come-on who designed it? is that any way to make it easier?

Until today, I was in the group of "I hate the new Inbox, too many clicks". Until I discovered the settings that open the task without taking me to a new, full screen, annoying (since activity-task detail reversed) task window. Now, task details open up next to the list of Inbox notifications. See the screenshot. Hope this helps someone else!

Hendrik Mo I like the fullscreen mode. I'd like to have breadcrumbs on all notifications and be able to choose whether clearing a notification moves to the next or to the inbox. It's very rare for me to go through notifications in order and having to clear then close the next one adds an extra step that adds up (especially with all the other little extra steps/clicks in 3.0). I'd also love if we could have the ability to sort notifications by location.

Yes. it is a UX disaster.

I would also add that if the notification is for a subtask, you can't see what parent task it is for without going into the notification. It is really challenging not to be able to quickly see what project it is associated with.

We agree with all of Kevin's requests. Thank you!
