Hello! I am trying to import sheets from excel but it's showing extremely complicated! When I try the same thing in Monday, it's much simpler. I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong, but it takes hours to import an Excel sheet with 25 columns. The tool keeps telling me that a Task name is missing, or that there are two columns with the same name, and when I "ignore" those columns, it still does not work. Can you help me? Thank you!

Hello I want to know if I could import tasks and subtasks from MS Project or ate least Excvel / CSV.
Thanks in advance
Owen Mebourne
Wondering if there is any progress updates for this regarding importing a sheet into tasks?

Owen Mebourne: Hey Owen, we've hit some delays with GDPR and another import system we created. It's in the pipeline to be completed end of this month, possibly in June. Thanks for your patience and my apologies for the delays.

About the topic "Importing from Producteev":
Producteev obviously is not supported anymore, since some weeks, and there are thousands of frustrated producteev users out there, because Jive did not even notice them. (Their email server got on a blacklist and producteev is slowly falling apart without maintainance.) So that means a lot of potential new customers for ClickUp!
Unfortunately as your CSV import is not ready yet, and I really need to migrate to ClickUp immediately, I had to find another way:
I used Zapier integration with this:
Create ClickUp tasks via Google Sheets: https://zapier.com/app/editor/template/20061
It is a bit painful, but it works more or less (comments and subtasks can not be imported correctly, but they can be pasted into the description field of the task).
Maybe that could be helpful for other users, so here is what I did:
- Export CSV from producteev (settings menu)
- Delete other networks table rows (if present) from producteev csv
- Split up CSV -> make separate datatables for each project
- search&replace:
- Status Active -> Open
- Status Completed -> Closed
- Status In Progress - not existing in csv!
- Status Paused - not existing in csv!
- Responsibles: Create all team members in clickup first, then in CSV Seach&Replace names with email adresses
- Multiple assignees: replace " | " with ", "
- Priority can not be imported. But you can sort your spreadsheet by priority values before importing it, so reaplying priorities to tasks later in clikup will be easier! I recommend saving the original sorting to a new column (with numbers in each cell 1, 2,3,4,5,...) and then sort the table with three sorting rules at once:
- Status descending 2. Priority descending 3. Original Sorting ascending
- Subtasks can only be imported into description field. To improve formating of subtasks you should search and replace "," with "linebreaks" before importing. This can't be done with normal search and replace in google spreadsheets. Create an additional row instead and use a formular like this: =SUBSTIUTE(I2; ", "; CHARACTER(10)) (German: =WECHSELN(I2; ", "; ZEICHEN(10)) )
- Create a new google spreadsheet and load all your datatables into it.
- clickup: create the desired project structure
- zapier: connect it to your google and clickup account and create a separate zap for every project you want to import by using this:
- test it!
- If you are sure that everything works, run all the zaps you have created!
Maybe that helps someone!
