Hide top bars like the search bar, views and filters in Clickup 3.0
Darren George
In ClickUp 3.0 there are like 5 bars at the top before I get to the meat of the matter. Theres search, favorites, names and more. Right now, I can only unpin the favorites but would love to do more. It takes up so much real estate that I can't see the full month anymore. In 2.0 I would be able to. Can we have an option to hide title bars, search bar or more?

Hello, please do something about it. We have a TV panel with active tasks in our office and almost one third of the screen estate is completely wasted.

This is my top annoyance with the Windows app - the white Windows menu, the Clickup top menu, the Space/Folder/List header, List/Board etc views header and then the List status header.... So much wasted real estate! Help!

Zeb Please make this a priority. theres so much useless space.

Yazzi: We're on it! Updates coming

Zeb any updates on when these updates are coming? There is so much wasted space in 3.0.
Natalie Williams
Zeb is there a breakdown of the reasoning behind the design changes in 4.0? It has more wasted space and less usable space than 3.0 did. It's becoming more and more cluttered and less functional.

Thanks for sharing the feedback, Natalie.
If you’re open to it, could you share a bit more detail on which areas feel more cluttered or have more wasted space compared to 3.0? Specific examples really help us understand the pain points, and I’d be happy to pass that along to the team!

Erra Faye Zabat, there are so many requests for improvements to the functional space, so I suggest looking through the threads.
The number of menus at the top decreases the usable area by up to roughly a quarter of the screen.
The very top menu with the search could be (should be) completely eliminated. Move the personal tools to the bottom of the left menu. Move the space name to the top of the left menu (where it was in 3.0). Give an option to add the search to the left menu.
The "expanded" view for subtasks in the task view is an utter joke. The "expanded" width is about the same as the default width in 3.0.
The view names and icons were better in 3.0. I hate the new colored icons for the view types. The old charcoal ones for all types were a million times better as they made for a cleaner look, especially if you use emojis to visually identify views.
Because the functional space is decreased, I set the browser zoom to 90% (did this in 3.0 too), but in 4.0, the crispness of icons and words is degraded. You can see it in the screenshots of the view labels. It's also an issue with all of the menus the left menu bar generates (the list of spaces, docs, chats, etc.)
In calendar view, put the search icon back to the left of filters, vs all the way on the right, so it's easier to click. On that, the location of the "save view" button is way too easy to accidentally hit. It should be on the right side, where the search button is, so that the outer left has the search and filter options side-by-side and in the easiest place to click.
That's just a few gripes off the top of my head. There are a lot more friction points in 4.0, and screen space isn't used as effectively, which compounds the problems 3.0 introduced.

Agree. The main problem is that there is limited vertical real estate on many screens, especially smaller laptops. I feel there is too much wasted space and the actual content I need to see gets cramped.
Bethany Spitzmiller
Yes! I 100% agree. Also, from a design standpoint, it's too heavy up top. Put it on the bottom, if you have to keep it.
Julia "Jay" Chmielewska
Yes! I liked it much more when Search was an icon in the sidebar, next to the Inbox. This new version wastes so much space

I appreciate having the search bar, but visually it is distracting. I want to get to my tasks quickly. The contrast of the dark search bar draws the eye upward continually - this is not good for focusing on tasks or for time management.
Natalie Williams
Dea Jenkins the black search bar drives me absolutely nuts even after so many months of it being there. The only time I use it is to click for my profile, which could so easily be moved back to the left menu bar. It just eats up valuable screen space and like you said continually draws the eye up which is a distraction.

Not a single part of the newly added bar across the top is useful to me, it's effectively blank.
There is no UX principle that would imply this is a positive change. It reduces the UI along the axis where you need active content.
It would have made more sense to add a button bar to the left or right side of the entire layout if you wanted a spot to put the profile icon and your built-in Notepad and other little tools that I personally never use.
If only we could all read pictographic languages so all our menus could run vertically. 当?

I came here to write the same thing. I find the search bar and profile icon totally unnecessary.
Arnaud Marguerite
+1 for me, was going to write the same, don't need the search bar or profile icon at the top, already on the left side. Thanks
