Grouping of Spaces
Daniel Urbano
It would be awesome to be able to group spaces into different sections. I know, it's something not that 'wow', but it could help a lot!
Let's say in our company we have different "types" of work: Internal and external.
Internal: All common departments such as HR, Marketing, Finances, etc...
External: Projects (with clients). This applies very well to us because we're a consulting firm.
It would be great also to customize these names, as it happens with folders. (ie. Section 1 is called "Internal use", and section 2 is called "Projects")

Grouping Spaces into Space Groups
- Feature Name
Space Groups – the ability to group Spaces into clear, organized collections with a custom name and icon.
⸻
- Problem it Solves
In the current ClickUp environment, when the number of Spaces increases (e.g., dozens of clients or many projects), the following issues arise:
• Loss of clarity in the main sidebar.
• Slower navigation when switching between different types of Spaces.
• The need to manually scan through a long list to find a specific Space.
⸻
- Proposed Solution
Add a “Space Group” layer that allows:
• Creating a custom group (e.g., Clients, Internal Projects, Development, Archive).
• Assigning Spaces to a specific group.
• Collapsing/expanding the group in the sidebar.
• Adding color labels to groups for quick visual identification.
• Adding an icon or emoji for each group.
⸻
- User Scenarios
Scenario A – Space = Client
• Each client has their own Space.
• The user creates a group called Clients and assigns all client Spaces to it.
• Internal projects, marketing, and back-office Spaces remain in other groups.
• Result: A clean list where it is immediately clear which Space belongs to which work segment.
Scenario B – Space = Project
• Each project has its own Space.
• Projects are grouped by status or team, e.g., Active Projects, Completed, Testing Environments.
• When working in a specific area, the user expands only the relevant group.

I really want to add Sections to Spaces visually in the sidebar (does not affect hierarchy, it's just visual).
So I could have a Space that has 30 folders, but break those folders in to individual sections.
This is NOT the same as subfolders, and does not need to be part of the hierarchy - this is just for visual organisation of the sidebar.
This is the same way you have built Sections for the "Home" view of the sidebar.

So this is grouping of Folders/Lists within Spaces, as opposed to grouping of Spaces.

Guys, topping this up. I cannot wait for sub folders, although this is a totally different things, might be very helpful. Thanks!

I fully support this request, we are new to ClickUp but already estimating we will have hundreds of Spaces in our organization and the current method is untenable for continued growth in the application. There isn't enough colors, and icons to make this a usable feature without a method to group them by custom categories.

Custom Grouping or Separators for Spaces

The Problem:
As my usage of ClickApp has grown, I've accumulated a substantial number of Spaces in my sidebar. While this is a testament to the platform's versatility, it can sometimes become challenging to manage and navigate these Spaces efficiently. The current organization options are helpful, but they lack the flexibility to truly tailor the workspace to my unique needs.
The Solution:
I propose the addition of a feature that allows users to create custom groups or add separators for Spaces in the sidebar. This would enable us to categorize and arrange our Spaces in a way that makes the most sense for our workflows. Here's how it might work:
Custom Groups:
Users can create custom groups and assign a name or label to each group. This allows for organized categorization.Separators:
Users should be able to add separators or dividers between Spaces in the sidebar for visual organization. The Benefits:
This feature would significantly enhance the usability of ClickApp for users who manage a large number of Spaces. It would improve organization, reduce clutter, and make the platform more user-friendly, thereby increasing productivity and user satisfaction.
I believe that this customization feature aligns with ClickApp's commitment to user-centric design and innovation. It provides a flexible solution that empowers users to tailor their workspace to their specific needs, fostering a more efficient and enjoyable experience.
I'd be thrilled to discuss this feature request further and provide any additional input or clarification you might need. Your consideration of this enhancement would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your attention to this proposal, and for your ongoing dedication to improving ClickApp.

Would be quite useful, as we have teams that work on particular engagements which are designated via spaces. I'd love to have a 'Team 1' folder that encompasses all the spaces that Team 1 works on.

Grouping of spaces (with permissions) would be great for those of us who run multiple franchises/locations/companies etc.
In todays day and age serial entrepreneurs still can't find a decent "Single Source of Truth" for managing multiple business/franchises or regions/locations. Redundant spaces are necessary. For example - I'd like to be able to Group by State or Region.

Not everyone needs access to each group. The Chicago location wouldn't see the other Groups, Clickup permissions would only show the Chicago location a normal Clickup environment.
If this is not possible create a TOP LEVEL cockpit/Dashboard for managing what's going on in Multiple workspaces.
