Grouping of Notifications from Same Task - Setting to prevent grouping
Sydney Lewis
My team is having trouble seeing the most recent comment in their inbox. The inbox is grouping all of the task's notifications together and they are not seeing the most recent or most relevant to them comment. Despite tagging them multiple times, they are not being properly notified. This seems to be happening with new and exiting threads. Can a setting be added where we can say "don't group notifications by task"? We often have several threads happening in one task and people need to be able to see the most recent comments first.

Merged in a post:
Turn off Bundling in Inbox (option to) or ability to expand each 'bundle' of comments.

I work remotely from Australia for a predominantly U.S.-based company, so much of the team’s activity happens while I’m asleep.
When I check my inbox in the morning, it often appears that only a single comment or status change has occurred on a task. In reality, multiple comments and updates may have happened, but they are hidden because notifications are bundled into a single line that only shows the most recent change.
This makes it impossible to rely on the inbox to quickly scan for items that require my attention. Instead, I have to open every task mentioned in my inbox, review the activity history, and manually determine what is new. This process is made even more difficult by threaded comment chains, where messages remain hidden unless expanded. If someone replies within an older thread and then additional activity occurs on the task (such as a status change or a new top-level comment), it becomes very easy to miss that earlier reply entirely.
As a result, reviewing updates becomes extremely time-consuming because I must open each task and expand every comment thread to ensure I haven’t missed anything.
I would greatly appreciate the option to disable inbox notification bundling and instead display all updates chronologically.
Ideally, the inbox would show a separate notification for every new comment or change, allowing users to quickly scan for items that need attention in one place.
If bundling must remain, a better alternative would be:
* The inbox entry indicating something like “6 new updates” with a clear notification badge, rather than only showing the latest change.
* Clicking the task in the inbox expanding it inline (accordion-style) to reveal each unread update as an individual entry, so users can review everything without digging through the task’s activity feed.
This would make it far easier to track updates and avoid missing important comments.

Interesting. 🤔 It would be great for simplifying the look of Inbox.
