Group by single item (labels, assignee, tags, etc.)
under review

Currently if one task was assigned to multiple assignee, this group of assignee will become an "assignee" to show with other single assignee, this is good for tasks, however this is not good to see the task load for each assignee, I would like to have a option to group by only single assignee, even some of the assignee may have the same task.

Michael Van Doorn Please also apply this feature to the new groupings such as in relationships. 🙏

It's insane that this hasn't been implemented yet. Is there an update or any known workarounds for this?

Hey Michael Van Doorn - just wondering if there’s been any update on this request as it's been sitting in ClickUp’s backlog for years now?
It's honestly getting really frustrating – when grouping by multiple assets, it's almost impossible to see what tasks sit under each label. I have no clear view of what's happening for each property individually, and it's making task management way harder than it should be.
The screenshot I’ve attached is just a small portion of the list, but it gives an idea of how unclear things get. When you’re working across 20 - 30 sites (as I do), it just doesn't work - and dropdowns aren't an option.
Would love to know if there’s been any progress or workarounds people are using?

Hey, Gary Way:
We've got this slotted for an upcoming quarter and have support for assignee in List view working internally (which will look to ship sooner than the entire suite but won't forget about the rest!).

This is a pretty basic need for us - we assign group tasks all the time. I want to be able to group by Assignee and have all the tasks for one person (regardless if they are solo or group tasks) to show up together so I know what that person's schedule is like.
"Filter" already has this functionality - not sure why "Group" doesn't?

Any date when this will be corrected? It's been five years! Labels are currently useless without the capability of being individually grouped. I'm now really regretting switching from Notion.

We really need this to see our loads better. Grouping them by combination is not helpful at all!

Michael Van Doorn what is the status here?

Michael Van Doorn
Hey, Paul Zürcher!
This request is top of mind for the Views team here at ClickUp. We're correctly planning out the timeline for when we get to this feature.
Can you tell me more about where this would help you the most? List view? Board view? What are you grouping by? Any details are great!

Paul Zürcher
Michael Van Doorn We use it in list-, table- and board view. Grouping by users or labels. In board view most often we want to subgroup by user fields like assignee.

Michael Van Doorn This is something I would like to not only see with assignees, but also with custom field labels and tags. List view and board view would be most helpful.
One example is assigning multiple assignees for a task, and then having a view broken down by each assignee, that way each person can see their breakdown of tasks. I'm the project manager so it'd also be helpful to see each person's load.
The other example is for a team breakdown. I'm using tasks to represent employees, and assigning them labels for what teams they're a part of. For example, I could be a part of the product team and marketing team. Then, I want to group by labels in a board view, so that each column is 1 label (the team).
The problem is the grouping is only set to the combination of labels, which limits the use for that grouping for lots of scenarios. And since dropdown is limited to 1 selection, there's no way to simulate that team view I'm trying to get.

Hi Michael Van Doorn, just checking in. I’m still unable to fully utilise grouping due to this issue. I see it’s still marked as ‘under review’—any updates on the progress?

Please!! One of the usecases I have for this is a stakeholder list with a label field for "Focus Area," where many stakeholders have multiple, but I want to group the list by Individual focus area--not by every possible combination. (Also ignore my username I am clearly running tests in my environment)

Very much needed. Trying to show staff's workload with a Task List grouped by Assignee in a Dashboard but instead of see each project they're assigned to, it groups by the seemingly infinite number of combinations of all the different assignees instead.

I'm begging you
