Group and filter by People fields (department, role, skills) in views
Vasil Enchev
Customers want the fields that live on a person (department, division, organization role, skills, certifications) to be usable as grouping and filtering dimensions in views, not just displayed on the People page.
Two distinct jobs came up in customer comments on the Custom Fields in User Profiles thread (https://feedback.clickup.com/feature-requests/p/custom-fields-in-user-profiles-eg-skills-role-phone-number-bio-link-salary-etc):
- Resource planning. A team lead wants to filter Workload by the skills a piece of work needs and group assignees by skill, so they can see only the people who can actually do it. Quote from that thread: "This can helps TL to understand better the competence/skill of each member in workload view when doing the resource planning. It would be even great if we will be able to filter/group assignees by skill in workload as well."
- People reporting. Another customer keeps a parallel people directory in Airtable (department, division, organization role) because those values cannot be reported on inside ClickUp. Quote: "If you could use the custom fields in views and dashboards then it would be incredibly helpful. We currently have to use Airtable to track our different users in ClickUp."
Current state: grouping and filtering by roles and skills is scoped for Workload and Timeline. The open question this thread exists to answer is whether it should extend to all views that can group by a field, and whether dashboards are in scope.
Note this is about fields on the person, not the task-level People custom field type.
