I would like to be able to specify which users or teams are allowed to modify any given field.

Excited to share that Custom Field Permissions is now live for all Workspaces! As a reminder, along with our other custom permissions features, Custom Field Permissions is available on the Business Plus and Enterprise plans. We hope you love it, and please let us know any and all feedback that you may have. Cheers!

More Granular Custom Field Permissions
Anika Lowman
A lot of Projects we run will have specific things they want to track, but we don't want to give Members the ability to create custom fields for general workspace hygiene.
It would be really great if we could allow users to create custom fields in specified locations
Example 1: Members can create custom fields at Folder level, [Role] can create custom fields at List level
Example 2: View-Only > Comment > Edit > Full Edit > Full Edit + (which allows you to add custom fields)

Hi Anika Lowman - thanks for reaching out! We are actually working on implementing #1 as we speak, to set the max hierarchy level where each role can create Custom Fields. Coming soon!

This is really disappointing - "Custom Field Permissions is available on the Business Plus and Enterprise plans."

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the direction your product has taken. While the functionality initially looked brilliant and promising, it has unfortunately turned into what feels like a money-making scheme.
For example, why on earth would my entire team need access to features that are clearly designed for admins? Forcing us to pay for the whole team to use them is both unnecessary and frustrating. This approach feels excessive and unfair.
I am now in a position where I have to fight to retain ClickUp within our company. The board of directors is becoming increasingly annoyed with being forced to pay for every new piece of functionality, many of which should be included in the base product.

Caroline Ginty Not excited about "Available on the Business Plus and Enterprise plans." :(

Caroline Ginty I am Business Plus, I checked for the last updates, and still cannot see it.
Edit: it was a matter of minutes. Now it works.
AFS Admin
Caroline Ginty I have not seen it when editing a field in the Custom Field Manager nor have I seen a banner announcement.
Mike Mannarino
Caroline Ginty I want to give Guests as a whole, not individually, 'Can Set' permission for a dropdown CF. Is that not possible?
Michael
hahah, it's business Domingo Echenique!
Davide Costa
Caroline Ginty A bit of disappointment for us too, for this discovery of "Business Plus" release.

Caroline Ginty - Great news!
Where do we control permissions for this please?
Lenny E
Caroline Ginty EDIT: If I understand correctly bulk access management is done by setting the field to private and then assigning _teams_ to the field according to what level of access they're supposed to have. If there's a better way to manage it using roles let me know.
== original comment ==
Not sure I understand how access configuration is supposed to be done? I can select "Based on role" and see the hint that it is inheriting permissions from the workspace – but how do I set one role as editor and another role as viewer, and is it possible to completely hide/obfuscate the field from a specific role?
Caroline Ginty
AFS Admin Are you still experiencing this issue? Can you try giving it a refresh and see if you are still having this problem? Thanks!
Caroline Ginty
Mike Mannarino The workaround right now would be to create a team and add all your Guests to that team, which you can then select for giving permissions. Being able to set the custom permissions per role is something we're thinking about, but haven't built out just yet. Thanks!
Caroline Ginty
Robert Hudman You can access this in the Custom Field Manager!
Caroline Ginty
Lenny E If I'm understanding correctly, you want to set custom permissions by role, rather than by team? If so, using teams is the current best way to accomplish this, although allowing doing so by role is something we've heard from others during the beta, and is on our radar. That being said, feel free to create a follow-up feature request for that functionality so we can start to track interest in that. Thanks!
Mike Mannarino
Caroline Ginty I'll give that a shot! Thanks!

though feature is available but its useless for me, because the license need to be business pro.

We have released to 50% of Workspaces as of this morning, and will plan to be fully released early next week. If it's available in your Workspace, you will see it when editing a field in the Custom Field Manager. We'll also be pushing out a banner announcement, but don't have a great way to target just a subset of Workspaces, so are holding on that until it's broadly available. Thanks!
Matt Langlois
Caroline Ginty This is great news!! How do we know if this was released to us or not?
Caroline Ginty
Matt Langlois: Just updated my comment with those details, thanks!
Matt Langlois
Caroline Ginty Thank you! I'm not the lucky one yet! Will Sprint Point Adjustment have these permission controls added at any point?
Caroline Ginty
Matt Langlois It's on our radar to build out permissions for standard fields/properties in addition to Custom Fields, but it hasn't been scoped out yet or put on our committed roadmap. Feel free to create a feature request for this though so we can track it!
Lukas Moser
works great, thank you.

We officially released to 10% of Workspaces in Production yesterday, and will be ramping this up over the next 1-2 weeks. I'll continue to post updates here as we release to additional Workspaces!
Lenny E
Caroline Ginty Will there be a notification when rollout has occurred in our workspace, or how can we reliably check ourselves?

Caroline Ginty Were the folks that were given the ability to use this notified? Just curious how that worked. :)
Caroline Ginty

Caroline Ginty Awesome! Follow-up, will it show to everyone, only those who created the field or is this an admin level thing?
Caroline Ginty
Charles Frey You'll be able to access the field permissions if you have access to the Custom Field Manager (which is dependent on your role permissions, if your plan supports that)

I look forward to this new feature and glad it's coming soon. Will save time with locking down configurations and keeping our folks from creating more work for admins.
