Global Slack-like Chat
Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was an effective internal communications tool that broadcast messages in real-time. We're talking Slack-level features here, folks. Real-time chat in ClickUp across Lists, Projects, Spaces, and Teams would be a huge win for all of us!

Thanks for providing your request! I'm merging this into our existing feature request for Chat in ClickUp :)

Slack is a good option to copy.

Global chat is a must! It's really inconvenient to have to go to the space, find the chat view, etc. If a chat option could be pinned at the bottom with the quick actions, and include everyone, and even have another option specifically got specified people, that would be fantastic!
Everything cannot be dependent on one space.
Not sure how this hasn't been implemented in 5 years... come on!

The chat feature was requested FIVE years ago.
It's the biggest issue we identified while migrating from another competitor to ClickUp.
This is a MUST!

but we already have chat John JM... Right Joey?
they deleted my original comments in the "too many taps to get things done" thread because the truth hurt too much.

Michael: Hi! Your comment wasn't singled-out, I had to delete the parent comment as I closed the survey and didn't want people going to a broken link.
I apologize for the confusion!
To clarify a bit more, we do have Chat view on mobile and web and it works great for many users. But we at ClickUp also see a grander vision for Chat that can truly replace tools like Slack or Teams, by placing all of your chats in one convenient area or sidebar, along with many more Chat features.
I am not directly managing this initiative, but I have seen some designs and know that it will help many of the voters here in this thread! 😊

Joey: Happy to read that, Joey.
We are currently migrating from one of your competitors (the one ending in 24) - your dev team should take a look, as their chat is really... perfect.
Michael
Joey: 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Joey
John JM: We will take a look for inspiration 🙌

Joey: When will we see this new chat feature?

Joey: this would be amazing to be able to replace Slack!

I would advise to expand this global chatting functionality in notifications. Rename it from notification to GComms (as for Global) or similar.
Divide the window into 2 columns. on the left, keep the notification flow as it is, and showing what happened where. I do like Slack and I am using it daily, but the function that is missing there is a great notification center that would briefly display who->where->what (like a notification feed). You really got that right. But you are missing Global comms, and it looks like everybody agrees on that.
And for the second column you just apply current chat feed selected on the left side with history. You actually already have the structure. Merge your #chat with comments, keep the hierarchy you already have and display breadcrumbs for bettter nav. Allow us to be able to respond to every single (comment-chat) from Gcomms, or to go there directly. Keep our history in each task comment section as you already have, just embed it into Gcomms. Allow the control of who can see what with permissions.
Allow to invite team member across spaces who currently do not have permissions (temporary access if the person was called to specific task while it is ongoing, or permanent by inviting into specific space) with the optional admin approval for it. That will do wonders with integrating essential communication between teams for specific task, list, folder or even whole space. (add this permission control into admin permission tab, so admin can easily see all users and their permissions and can toggle on/off)
And please add DM inside and keep it private. (just like in Slack, they nailed this).
And voila! You made all of our dreams of ClickUp growing to be the No.1 THE BEST TOOL come true. (you are almost there, we already love you! ;) )
ps(I have some client integration ideas as well, but that is another topic, you can contact me if you wanna hear more :D )

We use teams currently and I see there's an in-progress request for better integration into teams, but I gotta be honest, I'd much rather do all things in clickup than have it work better with teams. Give me a reason to not use slack or teams please.
