Full Access for Workspace Owner
Elise Remissong
Please let the workspace owner have full access to all spaces, including private. This is for support reasons. If we have a staff who creates a private space and shares it with limited permissions, then leaves, the owner isn't able to easily re-assign that space to someone else as they might not even have access to it.

Within the use case of a state agency to whom public records laws pertain, it is integral that a Workspace Owner is able to access all of the content stored on the platform in case they receive a records request that entails a time-sensitive legal obligation to provide information that has been determined to include that which is housed on the ClickUp platform, regardless of whether a user has decided to mark it as public or private. Access to files housed on a platform paid for by an entity, whether public or private, is a critical data ownership issue that must be addressed for any platform upon which an entity houses information to be able to be justifiable in terms of use and expense.

It needs to be for everything except the users private list. THe workspace owner needs access to all spaces and lists or at least know they exist and have the ability to change permissions. We have countless lists that users have created that contain data that we dont know about. Especially important to support users or when they move on. If there was an option to say whether a company wants the Owner to have permissions to spaces, folders and lists that cant be removed that would help.

Also each Space has an Owner, and they need to remain on any Task made private in their Space and not be able to be removed. When Space Owner changes that new Owner should get visibility. When an Owner says "oh, i didnt have visibility of that", it doesnt fix the Complaint and Brand Damage we are having to fix.

I'm interested to see that in 2023 this was taken into consideration yet we are nearly 2026 and nothing has happened.
All content created within the ClickUp workspace is company property and not the personal property of any employee. All data created within a corporate account remains under company ownership, consistent with legal standards and internal policy.
ClickUp’s Terms of Service (Sections 3.1 and 3.3) confirm that all content belongs to the customer organisation, not individual users, and that administrators are authorised to access and manage all data within the workspace. The Terms of Service do not provide for any “personal list” created within a corporate account to be exempt from administrative access.
Therefore I do not understand why this is not in place.

I Belive this feature only will request by Workspace Owner, and might not get most attention however,
As workspace owner, i believe it shall have the rights even for private spaces, view, or even restricted custom field, this is to ensure the continuity of the organization to continue use the clickup, else when employee left the organization, private list, restricted custom field, etc, cannot be retrieve and believe the end customer, we sure write in to request the support to do so,
definitely, you may come out with log to show what workspace admin do, just like microsoft global admin of a tenant, if something happen, they can still retrieve back relevant data

This is absolutely critical to be able to provide support to users. But perhaps more importantly, without this, it means that administrators cannot revoke access to users. This is a major information security risk. Ini my workspace right now, I have users that have removed admin access to a folder and I literally cannot take away their read/write guest license becasue I can;t access to the folder to remove it (and the screen int he settings ont he people page to do that doesn;t work for the same reason). Also, this issue means that you cannot remove custom fields fomr lists and folders you no longer have access to.
It is completely unacceptable that there is no way for a system admin to access everything. This would easily be solved by making it impossible to remove inherited permissions for the workspace owner and the space owner in any space (i.e. even if a folder or list is marked private, it should still inherit permissiosn for the space owner and the workspace owner. This would prevent all of this nd require no special security setting or configuration.

Hi Elise,
Thanks so much for this feedback. We certainly understand where you are coming from. We are making a lot of Admin friendly changes to ClickUp and will take this feedback into consideration.

oh wow, 2023 you were taking Owner's (who are the ones paying for your software) feedback into consideration and obviously just chucking it in some "we dont care" bin
