It would be very nice for the Formula columns to be able to calculate at the bottom like other columns do.

Hi all! Very excited to let you know that Formula Column Calculations are officially in progress. Really appreciate all the engagement on this FR, and we can't wait to get it in your hands as soon as we can!

I have just started with ClickUp and like it but was really very surprised when I saw that formula columns can't be totalled. It's such a basic functionality (monday.com can do this) and it is a showstopper for me if I can't easily have this when costing and planning projects. I don't mean to seem too picky but could you please confirm if this will be rolled out in the next week or so otherwise I'll sadly have to go elsewhere.
Michael
Alastair Dean: I'd peg it at a month or two.

That is a killer request. I actually would no longer need to pop data into excel if this were the case. This would be a major win.

Caroline Ginty will Calculations work in "Table view" as well or only in "List view"?

its unfortunate that this is not rolled out with 3.0. waiting patiently but frustrated as this feature is essential

Thanks Caroline Ginty, will formula fields also be available to use in automations? As triggers, conditions and actions?

Emily King: After the column Calc. feature is completed they will look into this. ref: https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/add-formula-fields-in-automations

Caroline Ginty I think what is remarkable about this and so many features within ClickUp is that you as a team didn’t foresee the need for this and build in the technology from the start rather than having to “completely change the way” formulas are calculated. It’s hardly a massive conceptual step to think “oh the end user might now want a total of their sub calculations”. It’s like building a car with an accelerator pedal and then coming back and saying “dang, we need to redesign it now as we didn’t realise you wanted it to make the car go faster”.

I replied to a comment below, but wanted to surface this context here as well for anyone who is wondering "what could possibly be taking so long!?"
I know it seems like a very simple feature, but we actually had to completely change the way that we calculate Formulas in the product in order to support this (as well as Grouping, Sorting, and Filtering by Formulas). Along with anything where we are changing calculations, we want to be very thorough in our testing that we aren't introducing bugs and are providing the correct outputs. Attaching a super quick demo from our testing environment using a basic Formula so you can check it out!
We are so excited to get this in your hands - trust that we are moving as quickly as possible while ensuring that we are releasing something that will provide immediate value to you and your teams. Thanks!

Caroline Ginty: Thank you for working on this! pumped. I am sure it is more complicated than it seems lol Keep trucking!

Caroline Ginty: Awesome!!! Thanks for the update.

Caroline Ginty: Thank you very much for the thorough explanations!

Interesting Caroline Ginty. Curious - will Subtasks be able to calculate up to Tasks? For example, I let's say - hypothetically - I have 7 Subtasks with formula calculations, but I want to then represent the totals of those in a Task to then be calculated with other tasks.... is that going to be possible?

Caroline Ginty: Can any particular formula result be referenced by a formula in another column/custom field?

Caroline Ginty: thank you for the update

Caroline Ginty: That's a little mini baby step. We need to be able to USE the result of a Formula CF, in another Formula CF !!!
Perry Wirth
Caroline Ginty: Very interested in this one! I was just building out a list and dashboard where this will be needed to do this function on ClickUp vs Spreadsheets or Coda. Is there an anticipated release date?
Also - will there be ability to use these calculated properties in Dashboards such as pie charts, etc or even within Automations as well?
Caroline Ginty
Perry Wirth: We're working on a release date - for context, we need to backfill all existing Formulas with our new calculation process, and we're currently figuring out how long that will take to complete for all Workspaces. So stay tuned!
The Dashboards and Automations teams both have it on their roadmaps (closer to EOY, I believe, but I don't have exact timelines) to support Formulas!

Cameron Etienne: Will that work also in Table View, not list?

Joke platform !
If you want to know the result of a "Formula Field" count it manually.
Can't be even added to the Dashboard.
You can track your work, NOT your money
(if you want something more automatized, to not put it manualy every f**g time in it. is not working)
Wasted 1 week of me life !
