It would be very nice for the Formula columns to be able to calculate at the bottom like other columns do.

Does this not work if you use the TODAY() function in the formula?

calulate field with a formula

laurent lourenco
Currently it's possible to sum up a numeric field in list view, and to see the total at the botton of the list (or the range or the average). but unfortunately it's not possible with a field which is a formula. For example One field is "time estimate", one filed is "time tracked", one formula field is "time left" = MAX(0, field("time estimate") - field("time tracked")) . I would like to see the total of "time left" at the bottom of my list.

it doesnt calculate the column immidiately, ive to refresh the pages or the software to make the right calculation appear.....
hope to upgrade it further.
thank you so much

Have the sum of formula type fields

Nadine Koriolis
I neeeed the total of the formulas column (wich could be different than the same formula applied to the total of used fields in the formula)

Yay! Finally!

This is a common sense. I don't know why ClickUp never though about this feature.

Aimee Mason
Caroline Ginty: Hi Caroline. Not seeing it, anything special needed to have it take effect?

Caroline Ginty
Aimee Mason: Nothing special should be required - have you tried giving it a quick refresh?

Aimee Mason
Caroline Ginty: Yep. It's a dollar amount $ derived by multiplying the time estimate by hourly rate. Advanced formula is "$"&(field("Time estimated in hours")*150) -- any reason that wouldn't be able to be calculated as a sum?

Amara Amzal
Caroline Ginty: Hi, the next urgent step is undoubtedly to make custom formula fields available in Dashboards (https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/formula-fields-in-dashboard).

Caroline Ginty
Aimee Mason: It's because you are appending the $, which means it's being read as text rather than a number, which is a known limitation right now. We'll be working to fix this, but if you remove the $ for now, it should work!
Alternatively, you could create a dummy Money field populated with the $150 for each task (& could hide it on the view to avoid clutter), and use that in your Formula, and it should work correctly.

Aimee Mason
Caroline Ginty: Makes sense! Thank you

Courtney Hernandez
Caroline Ginty: can you double check my company's workspace. Nothing seems to be happening on my end. I cleared cache/cookies as well just in case.

Caroline Ginty
Courtney Hernandez: It's the same issue Aimee was running into above; because you are appending an 'h' to your Formula value, the field is being read as a text output rather than a number output, which can't be summed. If you remove the appended 'h', you should see the option appear while we are working to better support this. Thanks!

Courtney Hernandez
Caroline Ginty: I thought that was the case. In the video it shows me removing the "h" and it did not work still?

Caroline Ginty - will the 'days' formula be evaluated to be able to be calculated as well? Assuming it is included in the same limitations as the text fields you mentioned are.

Michael Montefusco
Hey Caroline Ginty, will we get a special notification if it is in our account? And is there any docs on the new capabilities so we know what we can experiment with?
Thanks so much!

Caroline Ginty
Michael Montefusco: It should be released to everyone later today! Here is the documentation in our Help Center: https://help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/articles/6308656424983-Calculate-using-Formula-Fields#h_01HG9DJGE561HQNA3FQG9YEG66

Hi,
I have a calculation column that auto calculates as a Total Cost. I don't see this calculated at the bottom of my column. This is a common sense. I'm not sure why you wouldn't include this feature.
I also want to use this total calculated amount at the end of each column as a graph in my Dashboard. See the attached screenshot for more detail.
Thanks

Jay Dave
This is a common sense to add a Calculate option for the formula column. I don't know why ClickUp doesn't allow this.

William Fielding
Thanks for the update Caroline,
Does this include being able to use the results from a formula field, within another formula field?
e.g. Field D (fx) = Sum of Field A (#), Field B (#), Field C (#) = 100
Field X (fx)= Sum of Field D (fx), Field E (#)

Caroline Ginty
William Fielding: This is a separate feature request here: https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/use-a-formula-field-in-another-formula-field, but one we hope to start work on soon.
