Formatting of emails in tasks
Jonathan Cornish
When we add a comment to a task via email, the full body of the email including all previous messages is shown, which is often very long. Over time, it becomes very difficult to follow the flow of a task given you get the full email chain with each post. Is it possible for the comment to only show the most recent email? Possibly by minimising all content after the 2nd "From: " is found?

As an alternative to suppressing emails, could we instead have them appear as attachments, in the same way as when we drag an email into the comments box?
It is extremely useful to have all of the conversation discoverable at the task level, but as others have said, the verbose display of entire long email chains destroys the viability

I am puzzled. Why did CU take away the limited editing options that already existed for emails in the comments section. Why do away with such useful functions? We have gotten used to highlighting text in emails or simply throwing out endless/useless email signatures. Instead, we are now looking at endless scrolling to get to the meat of an email. Its such a waste of time that we've stopped sending emails to tasks in most cases. This is seriously impacting our workflow and productivity.
Also, how do I explain this move to my users, and what do I tell them when they ask me when it will be 'fixed'? They think 'It has to be a bug, right?'

Totally agree, I've stopped using the functionality to e-mail to a task since it makes the task a real mess. All content of the signature etc. is added multiple times, and it takes forever to cleanup. Please change this behavior

Agreed. The email function is basically useless if the quoted text from previous email messages is not hidden when the email shows up as a post in the comments window.

Yes, please look into this. It is very difficult to scroll through the comments section when the email chains can be very long. We are having a difficult time finding things in our comment section because of this. There has to be a way that the email chains can be truncated showing only the newest email that was added. Then, if someone wants to see the whole chain, they can click on it to show it all. We have tried getting our staff to get rid of the email chains before adding to Clickup or clean it up when it is in there, but that is so tedious to have to worry about.

How does this not have more upvotes? It's currently quite cluttered.
Code blocks would would be ideal.

I agree too. Fwiw, JIRA handles this with the option to add comment from the non-quoted portion or the full email.

i totally agree, it is vey messy look as full body of email is shown in the reply
