Filter Everything using custom fields
complete

I would like to be able to filter the Everything view using custom fields like you can do in a space. If a task does not have that custom field then it would be excluded.

Custom fields can be set on:
Workspace level
Space level
Folder level
List level
When setting custom fields on WORKSPACE level, every task in every space will have this field. This could create noise for the spaces that do not need those fields, or need specific fields. So the custom fields are per space differently and some will overlap. So the Space level in great for that.
In the EVERYTHING view you can filter on a custom field to get insight on all tasks with that field. However, this is only possible with custom fields that are set on WORKSPACE level, so ALL spaces. If you select a SPACE level custom field it will convert it to a WORKSPACE level field and add it to all other spaces (tasks) as well. This is really bad. You now can't create everything views on that data you want and if you convert it to WORKSPACE you can not convert it back to SPACE as when deleting it in a space, it will delete it everywhere.

Mark Verschuuren: Hey Mark! this is still on our radar just don't have an ETA of when it would be available. Totally understand the frustration though, I have hit this issue personally a few times and it's not the best.

Mark Verschuuren: Just giving you some support once again, well-done providing a wide swath of info about this issue across many requests, I believe I've found most of them at this point :)!

Ivan Villa: Does it makes sense to have this somewhere to vote/bugfix? this one is marked as closed.

Mark Verschuuren: Yes! I just created a request so we can continue tracking the task here https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/add-columns-in-everything-view-without-adding-custom-field-on-the-everything-vie

Ivan Villa: As mentioned by more users, the everything i missing it's power:
I consider this as a bug, not a new feature. Everything view is promoted as the power of ClickUp, and it is / should be.
You should be able to create hight level overview with data from across spaces. However, when using custom fields, and the everything view, i want to create a view / filter over all my spaces that have a common custom field. Not all space have that field, as not needed. but i want an everything view based on that field for management view.
However when selecting this custom field in everything view, it prompts me that it will add this custom field to all spaces....??.... i do not want to add custom fields, i want to use the everything view to get my everything oversights.
Am i missing something? or is this a bug? this should be the power of the everything view right?

Ivan Villa: Ivan, to clarify here, I see that I can filter now, but is there a way to display the Custom Fields that are being filtered? I find this badly needed so users can see on the cards, in the case of the Board View, what actual Custom Fields are in the filter.
Thanks!

To expand, I'd recommend ability to filter Everything view by custom fields with two possible approaches: If the task does not have that custom field, exclude it; if the task does not have that custom field, include it. I see use cases for both and especially encountered the latter recently.

I second this. I was a bit gutted to find this wasn't possible after I'd spent all the time to set up new feilds for this exact purpose. It would be great to help prioritize and slice data in different ways.
