Filter due dates by subtask due date

Hello! I love adding due dates to subtasks to break up larger projects into smaller chunks, but when filtering lists by due dates (for example, the "everything" tab) the overall task gets sorted by its end date, and not a subtask due date if that's earlier. It would be great if filtered lists took into account subtask due dates so I don't lose track of what I have to do earlier, even if the task itself isn't due until later.

As a use case, I use sub-tasks and parent tasks to group related tasks (so, for instance, task might be "Ensure all funder reports are submitted before closing this grant" and then the sub-tasks are "submit progress report 1", "progress report 2", and "final report". If I just want to see my tasks due the next month, though, there's no way (as far as I can tell?) to get the filter to show just the sub-tasks with the corresponding due dates (e.g., progress report 1, but not the later ones). It only filters based on my parent task's due date, but my parent task is going to have a date to match my final report (or just after), not my first progress report.
