Feedback: Formulas 3.0 Beta
complete
Caroline Ginty
We are in a closed beta for some new formulas functionality, which includes:
Grouping by Formula fields
Filtering by Formula fields
Sorting by Formula fields
Column Calculations for Formula columns
Please feel free to ask questions here, provide feedback on the functionality, etc so we can continue to iterate. You can find the Help Center documentation here: https://help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/articles/19371875590295
To join the beta waitlist, you can fill out this form: https://dev-forms.clickup.com/333/f/ad-983617/MV9SE9MMV5A35CRE2Y
As of Weds Dec 13, 2023, ~85% of users who have requested access to the beta have received access. Most of the outstanding requests are requests that did not provide a Workspace ID when filling out the form, and we will not be able to add you to the beta in those cases. Feel free to fill out the form again with a correct WS ID. Thanks!

Hi all - I'm closing this out as we have started the full public release for Formulas 3.0 capabilities! All Workspaces should have access by the end of the week. Thanks for all the beta feedback - please comment on the relevant Feature Requests (or create new ones if not already documented) for further improvements!

I'm not seeing this feature "Column Calculations for Formula columns" even though this request shows as Complete. ??

Will this new Formula 3.0 allow formula fields to be used in formulas?

Can't wait to see the public release of this!

When will you take more users for beta testing? Or when is it going to be released to the public?

I see in the documentation for Formulas 3.0 that formulas withe the function TODAY() cannot be sorted or filter. Will this change in the future?
Of course the one formula field I need to sort or filter has such function :-D
Thanks!
Caroline Ginty
Laura Buker: Thanks for the feedback - I definitely hear you on that! The reason this is not currently supported is because it's a dynamic function, so is recalculated each time you load a task or view that uses that Formula. We had some performance concerns about the trickle down of this in Formula calculations, so chose to disable these functions for the time being. It's certainly on our radar to come back to, however, and we hope to support this in the future!

Caroline Ginty: Thank you for your response, I truly appreciate it. I hope the team can get back to it soon as I imagine it being a key function for lots and lots of teams.
Thank you!

EDIT: Seems to not sort properly at all even for single lists. In our case we use positive fractioned numbers.
Situation:
I aggregated a like 10 lists into 1 aggregated List. So adding anything to the other lists (their tasks home lists), also adds the task to the Aggregated list via an automation. The 10 lists contain opportunities of different departments. These opportunities get a RICE scoring (formula field) and the idea was to be able to sort the aggregated list based on highest RICE scoring.
Expectation:
The whole aggregated list ist sorted by the RICE formula field highest at the top. No matter what list it comes from. To see everything sorted over all opportunities.
Current:
The sorting happens based on the underlying lists. So every list itself that is part of the data set of the aggregated list is clustered and sorted depending on the list where it comes from.
So e.g. sorted A List, then sorted B list. So every list below each other sorted by themselves, not intertangled Not happening is e.g. Highest A item, second highest from B, then. See appended Screenshot. This is how grouped by none and sorting by the formula field will end up for values from like 10 lists being aggregated in 1 List.

Leo Bastian: Please file a ticket with support - it will be a lot easier for us to take a look with all the relevant details from your Workspace. Thank you!

Hi there im just using it and in comparison with others calculations is a bit slow, are you working to improve that? thanks!
Caroline Ginty
Mechanical NedForde: Are you seeing slowness with the column calculations showing up, or something else?
M
Mechanical NedForde
Caroline Ginty: yes, while the regular total calculations for numbers for example goes is instant, for formula total calculations i have to refresh the page to get the results.
Caroline Ginty
Mechanical NedForde: Thanks for the additional details! I'm not able to reproduce this in my testing, but we definitely want to investigate this for you! Would you be able to fill out a bug report here, including a video of what you are seeing? We'll dig in as soon as possible! https://help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=4416695536151

Hi everyone - thank you to everyone who signed up for the beta and provided feedback! At this time, beta signups are closed. If you previously requested access up through mid December and have not received it, there was a bug impacting a small percentage of Workspaces that prevented rolling out the feature. That has now been fixed, and we plan to start the full release of our Formulas 3.0 capabilities within the next +/- week. I'll update here if we have to push that back for any reason. Thanks again for all your feedback - our team is thrilled to get this in your hands!
