Favorites Bar Unpin Icon
Martin Marcelo
When hovering over a pinned favorite, the unpin icon appears. This leads to accidentally clicking "unpin" and removing it.

Hi everyone - with yesterday's release, you will now see a toast when you remove an object from the top bar, with an option to undo the removal if it was done by accident.

Favorites in Top Menu Easily Unpinned
D
David Fleming
Unless you pin something that has a really long name, it is very easy to unpin something you added to the Favorites Top Menu. The unpin icon often appears right over the name, so you are required to click the left side of the word to get it to click versus unpin. I don't recall having this issue with the same items pinned in the previous version. It would be better if the unpin option was only in a right click or within a section of the left menu instead of with a left click.

This is a maddening enhancement and I agree that it should not be so easy to unpin a favorite.

Un-Pin Favorite in the Favorite item box: Bad UX

Randy Smith
Each time I click a Favorite in the top bar, i accidentally un-pin it. This is bad UX. Make it so you must right click the favorite and select an option to un-pin the favorite.

"unpin" like that is totally unnecessary and very frustrating. Any changes (including unpin) should be available under some sort of right click option..

Is Unpin such a frequent action that it needs a dedicated button for quick access? People make something a favorite to use it frequently, not to unpin it so easily. Right now the design makes using a favorite link and unpinning it an equal operations, which is a somewhat strange decision. A toast message is not a solution. It is yet another feature for a functionality that should not be implemented in a first place. Moving Unpin to right-click menu is a better approach to prevent accidental removal.

Hubert Bukowski Yes! unpin should not even be availabe just by the simple click - this should be reserved just to open/enter the pinned place. Any changes (including unpin) should be available under some sort of right click option. It is so frustrating and unnecessary..

Unpinning Favorites Accidentally

I like the new layout, but it is way too easy to accidentally Unpin the Favorites when they are up at the top. Please consider making Unpinning more difficult, such as by right click.

Unpin icon too large for favorites

I keep misclicking on the unpin icon instead of opening the favorite. The unpin icon is too large or should not be there.

Caroline Ginty This 'fix' feels like a band aid and I still feel like the UX on this is particularly poor. This doesn't help accidentally unpinning, it only assists in undoing it. Surly unpinning from the top is rare for the majority of users so why have such a prominent action. The suggestions in this thread of right click to unpin surly is a better solution. Even when a favourite is in the side bar, its in a right click menu.
Thanks

Caroline Ginty Thanks for the temporary fix, but I completely agree with Jon Provost it doesn't solve the problem.

Jon Provost Mara Appreciate the feedback! We're continuing to explore other solutions here as well.

Caroline Ginty The toast helps a little, but would really appreciate a solution to this. Especially for things with short titles, it's harder to click the actual thing than it is to unpin it. (I also literally never want to unpin things from the top bar – I need it everyday all the time and that's why it's pinned there!) Really undermines the whole purpose of pinning something to not be able to reliably click on it.
