We know many of you have been eagerly awaiting this functionality for some time. With 3.0, we laid the groundwork for the new Email + inbox feature, but there is still work ahead.
I can give you an update since our team has put in a lot of work to improve our email service and handle the higher demand more effectively. With more emails expected to flow through ClickUp we wanted to make sure that we had the buffer to take on more functionality.
We also have a significant migration planned for our Microsoft email customers later this year, which should open up many more possibilities, but that part is still going through some back and forth on planning.
As some of you have mentioned, perfecting this feature will involve multiple steps, which is why we do not have an ETA just yet.
We'll keep you updated as we develop more features, but please keep sharing your feedback and use cases. At the end of the day, our goal is to enhance your communication needs, and since not everyone has the same requirements, understanding where you face challenges helps us get a clearer picture.

When we are getting the E-mail inbox in the clickup ??

For this to be done right it needs the following:
Allow every user 1 email integration. Get rid of the dumb arbitrary two email limit for THE WHOLE ORG??? 1 email per user, if you want to nickel and dime for group emails, that's fine, whatever.
This needs to be both INBOUND and OUTBOUND email overhaul.
OUTBOUND:
Allow schedule sending for emails, bulk emails, replies, etc.
Automation for Dynamic email replies. When X happens, send Y template email with DYNAMIC placeholders for text from the task. (Example: If a user sends in a support task via a form, (or you know, email since this is an email overhaul) then auto respond with "Hi {First Name}, thank you for sending your email about {Subject}. We will get back to you within {Due Date}. The agent assigned to your task is {Agent}
Marketing Email Sending. Allow HTML emails with templates to be sent en-masse to a list of tasks or emails. Allow these emails to also be auto response emails with automation and dynamic fields.
Fix the absolutely laughable implementation of threaded/nested replies in the activity page in 3.0 when an external email replies to an email sent from clickup. SO MUCH WORK GETS LOST AND MISSED because there is no indication someone replied, when you open the task it's the TINIEST little 'One new reply' and when you click on it to READ the reply it opens the reply box over HALF the screen so you can't even read the email. MADDENING. Allow automation trigger that when a reply email comes in, something can be done. Add a notification in the Inbox. Create an inbox for just emails vs notifications for clickup. LET US KNOW IT'S THERE FFS.
(Apparently there is now a comment limit. Continued below)

INBOUND:
AUTO 👏 CREATE 👏 TASKS 👏 FROM 👏 EMAIL. The fact I have to create automation in a 3RD PARTY APP to create tasks from an email in a task creating app like clickup is bonkers. When an email comes in, I want it to be a task.
Allow linking group inboxes from Google and Outlook business to allow teams to work on emails sent to a group. Every other task management and CRM platform worth their salt has this. If you want to be taken seriously in the business market, linking group inboxes (without wild workarounds) is a must.
Allow alias linking. Again, business work deserves business features. If you want to be more than a chore chart for moms to use at home, get business features.
AUTOMATIONS. Things should happen when emails come in. Let inbound emails with DYNAMIC CONTENT setup new tasks, edit existing tasks, trigger other automation. Create new tasks, fill out content, set custom fields on existing tasks, etc.

FEATURES:
Proper Inbox. This has to be good and it has to be different than the regular inbox for existing notifications. If all my emails are thrown in there haphazardly with the rest of the notifications, I'm going to riot. This inbox needs to be its own separate inbox or masterfully integrated somehow with filters.
Controllable Filters. We need to be able to filter out emails and *.wildcard.emails to prevent those messages from showing up in clickup.
Fix the chrome and gmail extension PLEASE. It's outdated, you can't find things, the design is icky. It would be marvelous if when a task is created in clickup inbox that the extension would automatically add the tag in my gmail inbox linking to the task(s) that email is a part of.
History. When linking an email from an inbox, it links it in a literal attachment. That is bad. I don't want to open a .email file inside clickup. Just link it as a comment.
CONTACT MANAGEMENT. Last but certainly not least, we have to have a way to manage emails and contacts in clickup that aren't Guest users. We need to be able to keep track of customers, interactions, a proper CRM. If we must do that in a list, so be it but it NEEDS to be better than just a pretty icon on the task that makes it look like a person. It needs proper features attached. When sending emails, if I have an email saved to a task as a field, then ffs please show the name of that instead of however you currently (wrongly) guess the names of an email recipient. if an email address has EVER touched any inch of my workspace in a comment or a field or whatever, then please show it when I'm typing into the 'TO:' section. Or just show the contacts list that needs to go into clickup.

Thank you :)
(Sorry for the disdain in my tone here. I SO DESPERATELY WANT CLICK UP to be the app it says it is. I want it to replace all my apps. PLEASE replace all my apps. Let me give you more money to actually replace all my apps I still have to pay for to help clickup actually be good. I want it all in one place. I want it all right here. You can do it. I know you can. PLEASE. I'm just frustrated that requests like this with THOUSANDS of upvotes go untouched for YEARS and dumb little things that NO ONE USES like AI and transferring from other random apps with 10 votes gets fast-tracked in 6 weeks.)
Don't forget that your USERS made you great and put you where you are today. The second you forget about us, we'll go somewhere else.

Libra Software
Good morning, does anyone know any clickup competitors that have email features so I can organize my entire workflow in a single tool? If you can comment on my question with the names of the tools, I want to test them all, I thank you!

In order to have a workspace hub it’s key to have a proper inbox to manage everything in one place

We developed our own n8n automation that reads (AI) all the project managers inbox and convert them into tasks but definitely, working all day in ClickUp and quit completely the email client would be fantastic! Please advise on the timeline of this.

Clickup, how do you see this working? ie would shared inboxes etc be attached to a respective space or would you have an separate Clickup product with integration to Clickup chat/tasks/channels etc?
Tim Jasper
Ivan Villa is there a beta for this. Clickup must surely be working on this feature already.
Ivan Villa
Tim Jasper No beta for this right now. The main effort being done is on the infrastructure side. Once we get past this first hurdle, the team can then move on to how email can better integrate with other parts of the app, including the inbox.
Tim Jasper
Ivan Villa great news. I'm keen to be involved if you ever need feedback/survey on how this could work. I've used missive since its inception and would love to see that sort of functionality within Clickup. (ie chat around email - personal or shared inboxes). Alternatively bringing Clickup chat into other applications such as Missive would be another approach. But someone has to bring tasks/chat/email together. It may as well be Clickup... Whoever does.. Wins.
