My single biggest gripe with emails as they are is the fact that if you forward one to click up you can't then reply to it from clickup. Only messages started in clickup can be replied to and threaded. Such a terrible limitation and real time-killer. Also causes miscommunication and disorganisation.

Also, messages forwarded to my clickup CRM from my website (to create tasks as leads) can't be replied to as emails. I want messages to come through to clickup, create the task AND form a reply-able email in the activity section of that task.

And one more thing - AI can't distinguish between a comment and an email, but they are not the same at all. Comments are for internal communication (of which I have none because my clients don't use clickup) whereas emails are for communicating with people outside of clickup.

In our use-case, this was a deal-breaker. Following a hugely frustrating period of trying to make it work, with absolute lack of traction from support, and it consistently failing, we abandoned the app entirely and created our own solution/platform with integrated email and SMS comms and collaborative access to these.
Guy Mannerings
Basically Outlook/emClient alternative, but integrates with ClickUp and Tasks. Must work offline. Must have multiple accounts. Must work with GMail labels properly. This is also a potentially good use for AI to organise e-mails as they come in.

This ia a big missing piece. ClickUp Inbox is supposed to be our centered communication and ClickUp Brain AI is supposed to use everything as a Corporate RAG.
What we want is pretty much the equivalent of Missive within ClickUp and open only ClickUp in the morning.
I have 3 screens and its not enough! One for ClickUp, one for Brain, one for Coding or any other productivity tasks. I don't have a 4th screen to monitor the Mailbox.
The workaround we have is an orchestrator connected to our Gmail and an AI that sorts emails by type and sends them as a task for triage in ClickUp if applicable.

Raina Ahuja asked for our use cases, so here goes:
I would like to be able to sort emails into a list (-> a list is a project, an email often refers to more than one task on a project), probably the features of a list could be expanded anyway, so we do not have to have a main task per list to store info about the project but that's an aside).
So ability to attach emails to a list.
Stop attaching embedded images to the task, only attached files should become attachments on the task. It's a nuisance.
Find a way to remember recipients, or get them from Outlook/Google/Hubspot/etc to make sending emails easier.
Create an email inbox, so I can see an email as a task like any other - could even be just another tab in the existing inbox, where an email is a task and I can move it to a ist or add it as a subtask somewhere or send it as a comment into an existing task, OR I can just mark it done after reading.
E-mail is heavy lifting in terms of data, so falling short of an inbox, at least make the outlook add-in useable. It's excruciatingly slow to use and not working properly in the "new" Outlook. I want a single click that creates a task from email, assigns me and then let's me handle the rest inside clickup. currently I forward to a list, that list has automations to assign me and add a time estimate and then moves it all to other places.
And (commercially): at the very least make it easier to add inboxes to the licence, I love that I can decide how many, but can it just be a button on the licence page?
Make templates easier to use, I would like to call a template by adding #templatename to the email, it loads and I can edit and send. I do not want to click on five things to navigate to a template.

4 years later and considering??? Sooo what was it 4 years ago?

Considering? wtaf! Zeb put this on 4 years ago and you mark it as considering? My understanding was that this was well and truly underway. Clickup need to either buy an existing solution and integrate to it fast or get to work building something! A clue: It needs to be missiveapp or similar. Flabbergasted at the (lack of) progress on this.

We just need a dev to spend a few days fixing the images bug in email. Just make sure it stops adding embedded images as attachments on the task and keep them in the email activity.
My task attachments is basically just hundreds of facebook/linkedin/social media icons from email signatures and then the attachments and images you do need dont show on the email and you cant find them in the task attachments
New features are great, but low hanging fruit is fixing usability issues with current features
The above is preventing us from recommending email in clickup for clients. They are selecting other CRM systems because of it.
Making the outlook/gmail plugins import the emails, instead of attaching them seems like a quick win also.

- Personal and team wide email inboxes.
- Remove limit of 2 email inboxes (becomes more frustrating having to mess around with billing plans to add more and more of these)
- Ability to categorise, search and find emails, e.g. client projects, client correspondence, internal legal, internal finance etc.
- Ability to search and find emails across multiple inboxes/locations.
- Host a proper client/contact CRM to allow for email recipients to be added with ease and not have to rely on custom fields.
- Much clearer email threading vs the current comment replies (ability to see emails with threads and navigate smoothly between earlier threads).
- Auto filing/categorising of emails through email automation triggers (text contains, sender =/contains, body/subject =/contains etc).
- Better linking of tasks to emails and vice versa (i.e. works fine if sending from a task, can only manually link a single email via clickup add-ins but replies not connected).
- Sharing of email inboxes (helps when others are away or delegation of emails).
- Would ClickUp be ideally placed to host documents and provide a native document vault to make sharing attachments and finding emails much easier? Much slicker than having to upload files or host docs separately in box, GD, OD etc.
- Ability to send emails to Outlook/Gmail draft folders if wanting to use Microsoft or Google add-ins not available in ClickUp (use tags or stamps to identify 'draft', 'draft outlook', 'draft gmail', 'sent'.
- Add a time widget into the email options to help with time tracking
