I manage a lot of tasks so each update is displayed for me as an individual entrance, so you can image how this stacks up. So my life has become clearing those status in my inbox which takes time and makes my life harder at doing my job.

It would make my life easier if each task only occupies 1 slot in the inbox, even with a thousand updates: only one slot.
