Drag and drop mails/documents/weblinks to create tasks

It would be great if I can drag and drop anything at all into a space & it gets created as a task, captures a link/reference to the file. It'd saved tonnes of time and would provide ready reference/linkage to documents.

Requesting this feature too, bump 👍
Does anyone have any easy workarounds for dragging things to create tasks in ClickUp?
Or is this in progress by chance?

that is what i was wondering too... imagine if you are an owner investor like the big corporation out there and you just bought a company that's got multiple subdivions, departments et you had all those sop's, documents, data, things that they had to do and then you just uploaded them to clickup and PAF it becomes all automated within click up, all spaces, chat, agendas, views etc... are all created and you then get a view like a visual board or multiple differents views where you can literally change edit dependencies, if then that etc... that would be next level.

Any update on this please?

Many of the comments are about email functionality, so to drag this back to specifically drag & drop files -> clickup interface = behavior, here's a current scenario and a set of UX behaviors that would likely accommodate it without breaking norms across ClickUp:
Current Workflow:
- Upload files to GD folder.
- External automation fires and uploads files to specific List as Tasks, naming and attaching accordingly.
Desired Workflow:
- Open any List view in ClickUp.
- Drag & drop files into List content area of the viewport.
- Behavior similar to pasting in multiple rows of text with newlines or from spreadsheet: "I noticed you tried to drag 13 files into this List, did you want to create 13 tasks?"
- If user clicks "Yes" 13 tasks are created from the files, with the filename as the task name and the file attached.
This would be very handy as we push ClickUp to act as best it can as a document management tool in a relational system.

Any update on this? It would be GREAT to be able to drag and drop emails from gmail into clickup.

I agree. I have documents that are sent as attachments in Outlook and it would be awesome if I can just drag them into Click Up to upload. Now I have to save them on my desktop first then do a manual upload. This would be a huge timesaver.

Cat Dupree: I think for attachments this is more a problem of Outlook (or the version). Typically you CAN drop files from programs, if the program returns them for drag & drop as file handle... in Thunderbird for example that works.
But dropping the whole mail .eml into clickup as task or comment (by drop area) would be very very awesome to have everything from the mail in context.

Mapping information from the various email fields from Outlook to Clickup would be great e.g.:
* Subject line -> Task Subject
* Message body -> Task comment
* Priority -> Priority

This would be great, simple drag & drop similar as it is in OneNote.

yes yes yes please! I grow tired of clunky gmail. although the plugin for chrome is nice. IT's a lot of clicking to link up a new task for an email or attach it to a existing task.
