I would love to be able to drag and drop subtasks into a different order within the subtask list.

Zeb I think this is now possible, but when there is a sorted list, Drag & drop is disabled, but it should be no issue dragging a task on another to create subtasks I think!

Hey Ruud! Thank you for letting us know. Yes this is supposed to be completed 🙂
As for sorting, since subtasks are sorted too, it would break the sort if it's dragged to any task and that's why it doesn't work. For this to work, you'll have to disable the sorting and then drag/drop!
We're, however, thinking for a solution to this!

I think that this feature already has been done, because at the list view and after open the Task you can hold the subtask and reorder

It is sort of mind-blowing that this has not already been done. It actually takes me 5 to 8 clicks to move a sub-task just up to next task above.
Maybe I am missing something, but that is way too many clicks to move a sub-task, especially within the same list, which is frequently done.
Also, it would be great if we could use the multi-selection "dots" for sub-tasks being moved could also be used to
designate a task to receive
the set of sub-tasks being bulk moved. That would be a method really easy to use, too.

At times, this feature does not work for me. I can drag and drop the task, but it will stay where it is after all. Anyone else experiencing the same?

Ivan Villa: Hey Ivan, if you look at a lot of the merged threads here, they are talking about dragging tasks into other tasks to become subtasks, as well as dragging a subtask into another main task. Is that completed as well? I don't see that functionality yet.

Zeb's comment from this same thread -
"There's a few more features (like reorder in list view, drag subtasks to different parents in list view, etc) that we have completed in 2.0. We'll mark this complete when those updates are shipped."
Matt Krebs
Ivan Villa: I must be missing something. I cannot "drag subtasks to different parents in list view" in 2.0. And it seems like an essential feature. The old way of "converting to a task or sub-task" with like a four-click action takes forever, rendering the whole idea of subtasks not really usable IMO, in Clickup. Can you give a clear update? If this works, then how. If not, when? Thanks.

From Support Ticket:
Regarding the substasks, I think the best would also be to just respect the subtasks order and estimation. So if we drag and drop a main task with its subtasks.
- we have a task with subtasks estimations
- we drag and drop the task to the calendar
- it will auto expand on all days based on estimation
- if we activate the subtasks view it should directly show as a Gantt view all subtasks below the task.
- you should display all subtasks in the order there are listed on the task

Being able to drag a Task (not Subtask) under another Task to become a Subtask would be AMAZING.
Here's a video describing it: https://www.loom.com/share/24f013b2bf59475aa356297d0b51ebf8
Also, when you have 2 tasks and want to move one Subtask to another task, it'd be amazing to be able to drag and drop it.

Jake Spirek: Yes, my vote for this! Perhaps it can be done with a keyboard control. For example, when I hold Ctrl and drag task A onto task B, A will become a subtask of B. It would be great to select tasks in bulk and do this.

I second this! I like the keyboard command option as I sense plain drag-and-drop could be a big overwhelming.
