This is 100% not solved. Docs should be viewable in folders on the sidebar,
and you should be able to use folders in the Docs section of ClickUp — like a
normal file system pretty much everywhere else. Right now, docs added to a
folder only show up as "Doc views," not as actual items in the sidebar.
It's really hard to organize docs this way, and honestly it makes me want to
stay away from ClickUp Docs entirely because of it. This is a basic
organization feature that's missing.

Organised Docs

As the number of documents and meeting notes grows, the current flat document list becomes hard to manage. Tags help, but they don’t provide enough structure for users working across multiple projects or clients.
I’d like the ability to organise docs into project based folders, so related documents can live together in a clear, structured way. This would make it easier to navigate, maintain context, and keep work organised over time.
Ideally this would include:
• Creating folders for projects or clients
• Grouping multiple docs inside each folder
• Viewing docs by folder instead of one long list
• Easily moving docs between folders
This would make doc management far more intuitive and scalable for users handling lots of ongoing work.

Hey there Sam Martin! I wanted to merge this into the larger thread for the same request so that we capture true, total votes.
We know this would be a great unlock for users and after shoring up some performance and quality needs, looking forward to considering ideas from here for the Doc Hub.
In the meantime, just sharing how I've seen other users manage their Doc organization (doesn't fully address the request here of course):

If there were a way to create folders to put docs in

I would love to have folders to organize my docs for things that are relevant to each other

Can you introduce a way to organise Docs better? It would be great to be able to organise Docs into folders for organisation, it's a little much to look at them currently as they are in such a long list
Bryan Lovgren
Nora Tawfiq: we're currently focused on improving doc foundation such as performance and reliability. Better organisation is definitely something we'll consider taking on once we've sured up the foundation.

I would love to have the ability to move an entire ClickUp Doc to a subpage under another Doc. Currently, I can only move pages within a single Doc, but not nest one Doc under another as a subpage. This feature would help me organize my documentation more efficiently, especially when merging related Docs or restructuring knowledge bases.
Case example:
Today I had some new AI notetaker meeting notes in a doc. I want to move this doc with the notes as a page in de main doc of the client we spoke about. That's impossible like how its now. So we need to copy paste and delete everything by hand, a lot of extra work.
Hopefully you will consider this improvement!

Floris: Thanks for the feedback and idea !

I understand that ClickUp is a task-oriented system. Everything starts with a task. Even documents. However, not everyone thinks this way. I am sure that if ClickUp's perspective were more complex, it would have many new users. What do I mean? Organizing documents. If more emphasis were placed on documents, many users would appreciate it. It wouldn't take much to develop, just a slight redesign of the Docs main page.
– The Recent, Favorites, and Created by Me modules could be turned on and off.
– Alphabetical order would work: document title, location, author, contributor, etc.
– Documents could be moved between locations (folders, tasks, etc.).
There are tasks that start from a document. There is no specific task, deadline, person responsible, etc. Someone starts writing a document, which they later add to a task. I am sure that this development and change of perspective would benefit the software.

Zoli: Thanks for the feedback. I don't have timelines but I'll reach out when we plan to make updates in these areas !

YES PLEASE, THE DOCS DASHBOARD should allow me to better see my docs, arranged by spaces, and with hierarchy.
Problem: Right now they are all just in a flat list.
Solution: I need to see an overview of all my docs, easily grouped by spaces, with hierarchy.

Seriously. How has zero product advancement been made in docs in 3 years. Its ridiculous. Still waiting for basic functionality like permissions on Doc pages or dragging text blocks from one page to another.
Natalie Williams
Why isn't it possible to sort docs by name?
Bryan Lovgren
Natalie Williams: Over the last several quarters, our team has been focused on foundational improvements to Docs, especially around performance, reliability, and core editing experience. These upgrades were necessary to ensure Docs is fast and dependable for everyone, especially as workspaces and document libraries grow.
As a result, some feature requests like sorting by name were de-prioritized. It's not currently slated for q3; however, I will coordinate with teams involved with hubs to see what I can do to expedite this.
Natalie Williams
Bryan Lovgren it's nice that reliability is being prioritized. It would be nice to see sorting docs by name prioritized next, as it's a basic request that's been made repeatedly for 5+ years.
