Disabling Auto-Assinging Watchers
complete
Meaghan Lamm
It drives me BONKERS that every single task I create or edit automatically assigns me as a watcher and then sends me an email about the task. I'd like the ability to disable automatically being assigned as a watcher for my entire account so I can choose if I want to watch a task or not.

Hey everyone! You now have the option to choose whether or not to be added to tasks and subtasks you create, as well as subtasks created on a parent task you are watching!
In your notification settings, you'll see a new checkbox under the watcher section. By default, you'll still be added as a watcher to tasks and subtasks you create, however, now you can toggle this off!
If you are still be added as a watcher to new tasks be sure to check that you've also selected not to be added as a watcher to all new tasks on the Workspace!

How does one reach this menu?

Nick Potok: ya this did not work as I had hoped, I did not want to be added as a watcher to every task I comment on once, or adjust in some small manner. if this still coming?
Пётр Александров
Nick Potok: However we're still added as a watcher when:
- Editing a task
- Commenting on a task
Please add to Watcher Settings the options to not automatically be added as a watcher to tasks you edit or comment on. These should be separate options.

Nick Potok: I believe this new feature is not working properly on certain occasions. As far as I could see, when creating a task from tray or when creating a task from a Doc (underlining part of the text and such), in both cases I get assigned as watcher even though it's disabled in Settings.

Brendan W We have recieved an update today over email that the watchers settings is now live, however still when i just add a comment on a task it automatically assigns me as a watcher (Which i want to disable), i hope this setting will be managed soon
Appreciate your update
Thanks
Brendan W
Yehia Farag: Hey, there! Currently, editing a task (adding a comment is included here) will continue to add you as a watcher. We'll monitor feedback and listen to more users about this!
Daniel Urbano
Brendan W: Would be great to have every case where you're added as a watcher and toggle on/off each one of them as needed.
Meggie Eltz
Daniel Urbano: Agreed. In my project management role, I need to remind people that tasks are overdue or ask questions, but I 100% don't want to suddenly watch every task I comment on. That's a big missing piece of this update to me.

Brendan W: DEFINITELY need a way to turn this off. We have a recurring task list that a different person does every day, and every time somebody completes a task, they get notifications on their day off that a task needs to be done.

Brendan Jones
Brendan W: Please add this as well, I had assumed it would be delivered with this update.

FINALLLLLLY. This will allow me to start actually using automations because I am not using up all my automations deactivating this feature. Looking forward to it!

Brendan W: That is great news! My team will be so happy to not be automatic watchers on tasks!

Brendan W: YESSSSS!!!! I can NOT WAIT!! I have a related question to all this. When I make a subtask, it automatically assigns all the watchers of the main task to the subtask. Even after I remove them as watchers on the subtask, it is still notifying the watchers of the main task of all activity on that subtask. Now THAT drives me crazy too. Will that be fixed with this new feature as well? Or is that just a bug?

Brendan W: Your email says you are working on "Auto-Assinging." Well, if you are singing, I guess you are as joyful about this feature as we are. Hallelujah!

Brendan W: Hooray!

Brendan W: Thank you!!

Brendan W: Hi Brendan. An important feature, however, is to be able to add or remove a team member as a watcher for an entire project folder.
Christopher Le
Brendan W: how much longer?
Christopher Le
please hurry with this. I can't stand the email notifcations anymore. Its too much

This is a huge frustration for me since we also use ClickUp as our CRM. However, I would prefer the ability to customize this across our workspace at the space/folder/list level.
Basically, I'd like it to be disabled from being automatic in our CRM space, but not our working spaces.

This is EXTREMELY frustrating for us as well. We spend more time setting up automations to 'undo' things that are happening automatically that shouldn't be happening. In using the automation to remove me as a watcher, it is frustrating that I can't do it on the 'everything' level and I have to re-do the automation for every single space. Please figure something out soon!
