Check out our improved Desktop App! We've spent a lot of time squashing bugs and adding features to provide you with the best desktop experience possible!
We're closing this Canny post to allow you, our users, to more efficiently manage your requests now that this big improvement has been released. Feel free to make individual posts requesting new features to the Desktop App!
One big feature our team is still working on is the ability to open links in the Desktop app instead of on web. This is not included in this release but the feature request can be found here: https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/open-links-in-the-desktop-app-not-web
Check out our release notes here to see all of the new features and more: https://dev-doc.clickup.com/p/ad-75262/release-297

A way to open clickup link in the desktop app.
I use ClickUp to G Cal integration and when I click on a task link in the calendar event I want to it to navigate to ClickUp Desktop App instead of opening it in the browser.
On my Mac I use Choosy.app to redirect clickup.com links from Fantastical.app to ClickUp Beta.app but I get "This page is unavailable" message, even though the same link works perfectly in the browser.

Michael Powers
Eric Wightman: YOOOOOO! Yes! how does this work? is it a separate app or will it replace the currently installed one?
Eric Wightman
Michael Powers: Separate application for now but I believe it will replace the current one installed once it goes to full release. If not, your beta version will definitely update to the full release.
Martin Currie
Eric Wightman: Thanks Eric, desperate to try this for the Tray Timer, but can I check is this Beta as in it may corrupt our data in the cloud and should only be used with a test Workspace or can we use it on a live production Workspace with mission critical data?
Eric Wightman
Martin Currie: You won't lose data by using the Beta Desktop App :) It uses the same data centers as the web or old Desktop App

Eric Wightman: Hi Eric! Just to let you know, I have been using the desktop app beta since you made it available for testing. It has proven to be very solid and consistent. At no point have I needed to use ClickUp in the browser or the current version. Other than that this beta version seems cleaner and has been working pretty fast. I haven't run into any bugs. I'm already waiting for the update to the "old" version. Well done!
Eric Wightman
Adelmo Galindo: Awesome! I'll share that feedback with the team :) Thank you!

Eric Wightman: The app is great, but is it possible to switch off system-wide hotkeys? Or to change them? I frequently merge layers in Photoshop using cmd+E (Mac), and have just discovered that this no longer works if I have the ClickUp app open - it opens a new task dialog in the ClickUp app instead, even if Photoshop has focus and ClickUp is minimised. Wouldn't be a problem if ClickUp's hotkeys only worked while the ClickUp app had focus. Thanks!
Nick Kadutskyi
Chris Knowles: I have a hotkey issue too. I use Colemak keyboard layout but on Colemak CMD+E doesn't work, but it got replaced with CMD+F (according to colemak layout) so that system wide I can't search in any other app because it just switches my focus to ClickUp app.
Ability to set custom hotkey or respecting other keyboard layout than qwerty would bed great.
Thanks!

Eric Wightman: Hello, is there a more up-to-date link to download the beta of the app? This one gives me a 404. Thanks!
Eric Wightman
Lukas Vlcek: Use the link here! https://clickup.com/download

It would be great to have a way to have a hotkey combo accessible anywhere in the OS that would open up a new task/quick capture/everything search without having to switch back to the app first.

Joshua Anderson
Tassos Lambrou: You can press CTRL+E anywhere on your computer to create a new task with the current version, not sure about the other shortcuts
Tassos Lambrou
Joshua Anderson: Is there a Mac OS equivalent for this?
J
Joshua Anderson
Tassos Lambrou: I'm not sure, I would imagine it's just Command+E? I don't use Macs
Tassos Lambrou
Joshua Anderson: Unfortunately does not work. :(

Tassos Lambrou: Have you tried the beta version? It should have it, I know the Linux version does

Being able to select a "View task" button from an email notification & have it revert you back to the task in the desktop app rather than a web browser (much like if you were to be on the mobile app, the task would open within the app rather than as a new web browser page)
Jake Spirek
Need to be able to open more than one window! https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/open-multiple-tabs-or-windows-in-the-app

Duane Hardy
Jake Spirek: To me this is a must. It times you need to be in different workspaces, or spaces at the same time.
Jake Spirek
Duane Hardy: 100%. It's why I can't use the desktop app.

Hi guys, I like ClickUp Desktop for Mac. It's simple, clean and functional. For me it's better to use ClickUp Desktop than to work in ClickUp in Google Chrome. I need to have a lot of focus in my day to day life and being in one software off the web is quite useful. So I think developing and improving ClickUp Desktop is perfectly in line with your mission. I look forward to many of the improvements and optimizations mentioned here. I think the improvements to the email features will also be very welcome. Congratulations on what you guys have built so far!

For whatever reason, I can view embedded Sharepoint Online files in a tab in the ClickUp web app, but not in the MacOS native app. Using ClickUp for project management, I wanted to be able to give easy access to see the very large 'requirements traceability matrix' for our executive stakeholders. Having to tell someone who may only open ClickUp once a month or once every 6 months that, no, you need to open it in the web app, not on the handy program link on your desktop... doesn't fly.

I'd like back and forward buttons — or shortcuts like Command [ for back and Command ] for forward — to be implemented on the Mac desktop app. Also actual notifications that appear in the macOS notification centre.
