Delay the visibility of recurring tasks
Rebecca Langford
I have a list of things that need to be completed on specific days each week. When I complete a Monday task (for instance), currently, the task immediately shows up on my to-do list again as due the next Monday making it feel like it's never "done." It would be nice to be able to schedule when the task actually shows up. (As in, Monday recurring tasks will show up on my boards on Monday, and when complete, will disappear until the next Monday.) Hopefully that makes sense.

Hide future recurring tasks in Lists.

User request : When creating a legacy future recurring task, the task is then seen on all views such as table, list, calendar - even though it only starts in slightly less than a year.
It would be nice to have a way to hide these tasks until a certain time when they will show up again.

Recurring Tasks - Option on schedule

When I create a recurring task and choose the option "on schedule" the task gets created at this moment I set the previous task on "complete". It's the same behavior like I would choose the option "When closed".

Ability to Show/Hide Future Recurring Tasks
Dalton Kiley
For forever recurring, I would like the ability to hide future recurring tasks on the calendar except the following week (or certain # of weeks, i.e. show the next 4 weeks).
Meaning, while the main task is being worked on - there is a future recurring task showing for next week (weekly recurring on Wednesday) on the calendar but not for the weeks after that. Once the main task has been ‘completed’ or ‘done, then a new task is created for the following week. Once the new task is created, there will be a future recurring task showing for the following week after that new task.
Does this make sense?
First screenshot is perfect (you’ll two dates with colors - for month of May). Next month, there shouldn’t be any recurring tasks until the main task has been completed or done.
The second screenshot (all the Wednesdays for the month of June) shows the continuation of ALL forever recurring tasks. I believe legacy recurring settings allows this but it is soon to be deprecated and I do not see it in the new recurring settings.
This feature would be greatly helpful to prevent the calendar from getting too cluttered to tasks.

This is so basic. Since we do not have any options like that now, I have found a better workaround.
Use Today&Earlier filter on your list, so that it hides all the future tasks.
It can workout for many cases.

Any news with this one?
I still don't understand the purpose of this last bullet, that makes the option "on schedule" kind of useless...
If users want a task to recurr with the trigger being status change, they have the first 2 options. What we need is to have the option to recur/be created again at the specific date

Some things only need to be done once a year. It is handy to use the recurrence feature, so when closing the task a new one is created for the next iteration a year from now. But that also means that it remains as a TODO task almost an entire year. This clutters the task list. It should remain invisible until a given time, for instance 1 month prior to the new due date.

This is totally make or break for me. How can you work properly when you have 50 tasks crowding your brain that aren't due for days, weeks or months. I suspect we will leave ClickUp if we can't find a reliable workaround for this

The option to set up a recurring task that would not appear in a view until its due date!

How is this not a standard feature??? It defeats the purpose of having recurring tasks. Clickup please get this added.

Implementing this change will enhance our efficiency in handling numerous yearly recurring tasks. Upon observation, I've noted that when set to recur "On schedule," tasks are consistently generated after the "due date" of the current task rather than on the "start date" of the new recurring task. For example, if a task is scheduled to begin on 1/1/2024 with a due date of 3/1/2024, recurring yearly "On schedule," it will generate a new task around midnight on 3/1/2024, with a "start date" of 1/1/2025 and a due date of 3/1/2025. However, I prefer the new recurring task to be created on 1/1/2025 since we do not intend to commence work on it until 2025. Presently, tasks appear on the list ten months earlier, feel like those tasks are never done.
