Default Project/List when creating task

It would be nice to be able to set a default project/list when adding tasks. When I am working and an idea pops in my head that I want to quickly capture, I add it to an "Inbox" list that I will review later to move it to the appropriate place. The goal is to not lose focus on what I am already working on, so when I have to move to a different project & list or select these items from the Create New Task window, it is just more cumbersome.

Just checking in on this Canny and gathering some information.
Currently when creating a task via the "T" hotkey or the "+" icon at the top of the sidebar (see image 1), the location of the task defaults to what ever location (Folder, List). If you creating a task while not in a location, you are prompted to select where you'd like it to live (see image 2).
To confirm, the desire here is regardless of where you are when creating a new task it defaults to be housed in a location you've pre-selected, yes?
Also, would the best place to select that default list be somewhere in the mini-picker (image 3) in the Create New Task modal?

Yes! That would be awesome. For myself, I click the Quick Task in the top right by the profile picture.

For me it would be enough if I could select it to always be configured to the "personal list", as i have an automation that moves the tasks from there to my inbox list

If I'm creating a task within a list, I'd want it to default to that list.
If I'm creating a task from anywhere else, I'd want it to default to a preselected list (which in my case will be the personal list)

Looks like we are all on the same page. We have a few FRs that have substantially more votes that we are currently working on but this gives me some information to start some preliminary work!

Vincent - great! would be very valuable.
Also if you could set a default due date (like today) and a default priority (like normal) and/or a default assignee (the creator of the task), that would certainly help as well.
When "unloading" my brain i just want to hit the hotkeys whenever, wherever and start typing... saving it... hitting the hotkey and create the next one.. and then come back later and sort the brain-notes further...
Would improve my way of working a whole lot!

Vincent For me it would be important to have a default list because I always work in the All Tasks View and there I always need to set a list for a new task. So when I create a Task it takes too long time. Also the personal list tasks won't show in the all tasks view. I am using GTD and therefor creating tasks and process them should be two separat things. Thank you!

Vincent For us, the use case is that we're using mostly Everything views, and we would like to see a default there.
Also, please make sure feature works with multiple ways of adding plants such as through mobile and automations!

Sadly, I am finally switching to Google Tasks and Google Keep for most of my stuff... The lack of this feature definitely played a role here. Just fyi, as I will almost certainly not come back.

For my whole workspace, I want to set a standard location for all new created tasks (especially for the ones I create quick&dirty with the command "t").
Actually it is quite simple and you can learn from Apple Calendar: When you create a new event, it will be automatically added to your standard calendar if you do not change this "location".
