I don't understand why it isn't already slated to be fixed in general.
BEST WORKAROUND I've found thus far: create an automation from within the Personal List to move any newly-created tasks to another list of your choice.

Konstantin D Hi, thanks for sharing. I had this set and it was all working perfectly, but suddenly, something happened, and now whenever I create go New Task there is no default list selected.... Do you know how I can fix this? Thanks

It's really frustrating having to take an extra step in the workflow to make sure the correct list is selected when creating new tasks in a space and being told to use the Chrome extension is redundant!!! Why is the functionality there but not the web/desktop app??

Jonathon Arbona - is there any update on creating a setting for default lists for new tasks?  This request has been open for 4 years.  I haven't seen any replies from Clickup so would love to know if this feature will ever be implemented.

It seems daft that the default list is set to "Personal List" which I don't use. Please give us the choice of making this default something more useful. Having to ALWAYS move the task into a different list is annoying and unnecessary.

The "Personal List" feature appears to lock tasks to just me, so even if I move them to another list, they are still hidden for others, so not a good "inbox" to sort from.

Please allow us to default tasks into a folder like "To Sort" that we can interact with like any other list.

From my perspective, the Personal List feature was created to minimize clicks/touches when creating tasks on the go. But, since the Personal List doesn't suit my needs due to its limitations compared to a typical List, it has now the perverse effect of creating more clicks/touches whenever I attempt to create a new task. Obviously, therefore, this change should be implemented post haste.

Seems really strange that this isn't existing functionality and it doesn't even seem to work in a logical way e.g. one of my workspaces defaults sensibly to my personal list, but another defaults to a shared list that is low use and was only created fairly recently!
