Subfolders

It would be very convenient to have the ability to have subfolders. I use folders for classifying projects. For example, Projects would be a Folder name. 2019 Projects would be a Subfolder name.

Hey, everyone!
We’re so excited to announce that Subfolders are ready for you to sign up for the beta! This has been one of our biggest community requests of all time, and we can't wait for you to dive in!
With Subfolders, you can:
Add a whole new layer of Hierarchy to your Workspace.
Keep your sprints perfectly organized with nested sprint Folders.
Customize settings at the subfolder level, including permissions, statuses, Custom Fields, and Automations.
During the beta, you’ll have access to one layer of Subfolders, with more layers coming soon.
For more details, check out the Subfolders FAQ Doc.
Workspace owners and admins can join the waitlist to receive the next batch of invites in January!
This wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible community. Thank you for your continued feedback!
(Note: If you previously signed up for the Beta, you do not need to submit the form again)

Sadly we already left the platform in no small part because of this and other missing features that have been missing for Years. Instead features that bloat and make the platform more useless and hard to navigate have been given much more priority. Whoever is the PO over there needs to be replaced with someone to understands lean development and the concept of less is more.
The fact that this Still only handles ONE level of folders is wild. As a software architect this speaks to some really critical early architecture decisions that are likely still not being addressed with this update.

Caroline Ginty If we signed up for the Beta before the Oct. 15th date - do we need to sign up again?
Caroline Ginty
Dimitri Weslosky: Good question, no you are on the list if you previously submitted the form. Updated my message above to reflect this as well. Thanks!
Dimitri Weslosky
Caroline Ginty Thank you! Follow-up question - can those who were already on the list expect sub-folders to be added to their installation before January, or is that just when the next update is to go out?
Thank you!
Caroline Ginty
Dimitri Weslosky: That's the next planned update, but we are getting folks added as fast as we can.

Caroline Ginty is the last mile going to be another 3 years?
signed up for beta weeks ago and it was announced that beta will be released in nov/dec...

At this point, I’ve given up. I don’t need subfolders anymore. The documentation part is totally useless, and structure-wise, ClickUp feels like the Windows 3.1 era.
It's a shame, and I’m quite mad at myself that I fell for their ads years ago. I should have known better and chosen a different task manager.
I know my next project definitely won't be in ClickUp. I'd gladly pay for migration to any other tool that actually has basic functionality.

How can I sign up for the beta of this? :-) So keen for subfolders!

Caroline Ginty - the Beta form is already up and running on the ClickUp v4 page. Link here: https://clickup.com/v4.
If you scroll down, you will see an option to sign up for Beta subfolders. The direct link to Beta subfolders that anyone can fill out has been available for a couple months now. Link here: https://forms.clickup-stg.com/333/f/ad-2633953/MO3EC1FM1QZS3QF6R8
In the 4.0 keynote from the CEO of ClickUp, he mentions that
subfolders has already been released to Beta users
. My team is launching ClickUp to our entire company on December 1st and need it asap for our structure. Link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6G579IviBOI&t=1583sOn Reddit, there are several threads around this - the first link is a team member from ClickUp mentioning that subfolders is 80% finished and gave a similar demo above. This was 9 months ago, which was back in February. The second link is a ClickUp team member posting a similar link above and telling someone that Subfolders are in Beta 25 days ago. Links below:
I hope these resources help show why many of us are wondering where subfolders are. I have already shared these links with support and have asked for updates for the past couple of months.
I am sure the work is complicated, there may be blockers getting in the way, and it is probably hard to nail down a date. That said - we would at least love to just hear if we can expect it before or after EoY at this point so that we can communicate that to our teams appropriately.
Look forward to hearing back soon!

Any idea on the number of subfolders within subfolders that will be permitted?
Dimitri Weslosky
Alex Edwards In various videos, demos, and keynotes, they have talked about only doing one level to start off with.

Will there be a status update before end of year?
Even a simple "it will / will not be rolled out before 2026" would be immensely helpful and appreciated.
Everyone is likely doing some form of planning, input, or configuration in preparation for Q1 / 2026. Users to know whether or not it's expected to launch by January so they can build, update and train accordingly, especially as this feature would fundamentally change how many structure their projects, departments, and workspaces overall. Right now project managers are sitting on their hands wondering what to tell people, whether to start, and how soon they'll need to pivot.
