deadline as "ongoing" & TBD
Melissa McCauley
Would be cool if the deadline type line recognized a word like "ongoing" and "tbd" so that even if a project isn't ready for a hard deadline or it is an ongoing project, you can indicate that without having to leave that blank?

An "ongoing" task is a "in progress" task with no due date. You can even create a custom status and call it "ongoing" (still no due date) and the problem is solved.
I think what we are really talking about here -- and I agree this has to be a feature -- is the ability to differentiate between hard deadlines and soft ones. If a hard deadline gets pushed or its related task is overdue, that's a problem; not so much with a soft deadline.

Due Date = Sometime

We all have it: ideas and tasks that are not really important and can be done "sometime" in the future.
It would be great to have that "sometime" in the due date drop down as well. Not having it means that I have to leave the due date blank, which interferes with tasks that are not scheduled yet, but need to be scheduled soon. Thus making the "non scheduled due date" list much longer

Here's another request similar to this one: https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/deadline-as-ongoing-tbd
Would love to see this a reality!

I think that's sorta what recurring tasks are for. But I do like the idea of being able to mark the deadline and "ongoing".

Matthew Flex: completely agree with you
Melissa McCauley
Corvin Adkins: Matthew Flex for me, a recurring task is one that gets completed and then starts again, signaling the re-occurrence part. Something that is ongoing, is a living task that doesn't stop... most of the things I setup to reoccur, I want to set a due date on, not so much on these ongoing ones. It affects the way I view the work.

Melissa McCauley: makes perfect sense
Matthew Flex
Melissa McCauley: Sure. I can see the utility of keeping those things distinct. Thanks for elaborating.

What an interesting feature, I hadn't thought of that.
