Dashboard: Format of Calculation Cards
Fr. David Loeffler
I have come across some limitations of the calculation card type that make them difficult to use in practice.
- It seems that a calculation card has to be at least four units wide to be able to read the card's title, but this creates a lot of wasted space since the card's content is a single number. (See the image that I attached as an example. The longest card is three units long and the title is still unreadable.)
- This would be less of a problem if I was able to include some text that gives context to the numbers. There does not seem to be a way for me to do this. A few of the pre-made cards do have text in the box. (I included some of these in the example attached.) However, I am not able to set a filter on these (e.g. only count tasks whose status is "Active") which significantly limits the ways that I can use them.
With this mind, I would suggest some practical changes:
(a) Add a customizable setting on these cards enabling the user to add text that would appear like "tasks in progress" or "tasks completed" in the pre-made cards.
(b) Allow users to customize the pre-made cards in the same way that other cards can be customized (e.g. adjust the filter parameters).
(c) Allow users to toggle on or off the text indicating how long it has been since the card was refreshed (since this seems to take up a lot of space).
