Dark mode is now too dark

In spite of being an emo, the dark mode is actually
too dark
right now. The old one was better, in my humble and emotive opinion. ThxLog In

Hey everyone, thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback on the recent dark mode changes. We truly appreciate your input and will certainly consider adding a third option in the future!
For some context, the color adjustments were made to enhance color contrast accessibility across the app, following standard guidelines like those from Radix UI Colors. Our goal is to make the app more accessible and consistent for everyone, across various areas inside ClickUp.
In the interim, before we add a third option, is there anything specific with this update that needs to be addressed immediately. As examples, task borders, buttons blending in too much with text, etc.
Thank you for your patience as we try to improve the experience for everyone.

More customizable interface, theme and all colors

I didn't like the new update to the background colors. At dark theme, I liked the grayer background than the current one. To me, it's too black and ugly. I hope that one day it will be possible to configure the interface colors to our liking, not just the detail colors. Over time, in my opinion, every change that has been made regarding the interface colors has only gotten worse.

Please restore the previous dark theme or allow users to choose its color.
The theme you’ve provided is too contrasting and unattractive. :(

The dark grey option available before the update was one of the reasons I really enjoyed pulling up ClickUp every day - a subtle look that I think defines the visual style of ClickUp. The dark mode that is now available for contrast reasons should remain available along with the dark grey option. Please bring back dark grey as soon as you can - my eyes thank you!

To be honest Zach - ClickUp , I appreciate that thought.
I think people really appreciated. the Grey Legacy colors for aesthetic reasons and how some stay focused.
It would be nice to have back the in between for those times where this dark just seems to dark.

Just wanted to hop in and agree! I have had numerous members of the team today note that it is causing eye fatigue due to the dark background and the higher saturation of colours for status' for example.
Either an ability to revert or a much softer setting would be perfect!

Hi! I think some immediate, good changes would be:
- Make the text not quite so bright against the black background. Perhaps a muted white, or a super light gray.
- Add muted (not too bright) borders around tasks, docs, notepad, etc., or perhaps make those elements a slightly lighter-black color. Right now, those "pop-ups" are almost indistinguishable from whatever is behind them, adding a lot of visual clutter.
- I don't use tags as much in my processes, but I agree with others that they probably ought to be a little brighter than their latest setting.
- As for other elements (statuses, labels, etc.), I know that some users may either need or want them to be high contrast, but I think it would be nice to eventually have the option to tone them down a bit. Currently, they stand out so much against the black that they draw a bit too much attention. Add that to the bright white text, and it becomes a bit "noisy."
Thank you, Zach, and everyone else at ClickUp for always being so quick to listen to feedback! Of all the vendors, programs, and apps I work with, ClickUp is the most accommodating and attentive to its users. I'm always amazed with how many updates to requests I see. Much appreciated!! :)

While I applaud trying to implement accessibility in the app by way of color contrast, I don't believe the changes (and the update) have been handled effectively at all. Notice of such a forced major change to the UX should have been communicated to users beforehand, and the option for changes to the UX for accessibility be an 'opt-in'. Many platforms have handled upgrades in this way with great success.
For accessibility, pure black and pure white should be avoided as contrast is too high and can cause eye strain, reduce legibility, and have a "halation effect." Softer shades of black or dark grays (like the dark mode was before) are actually better for accessibility so long as the contrast ratio is 4.5:1 to meet WCAG 1.4.3.
I would also highlight that the changes to tag colouring moves backward in accessibility measures, as contrast ratios have been reduced due to the 'dulling' of the new tag colour scheme.

I agree, it is way too dark and the contrast is way too high. I opened it and literally thought I had accidentally switched my computer's color profile. It's too harsh on the eyes. The previous version with a more muted grey worked was perfect. Please provide an option to switch back to the original dark mode for users who prefer it.

Agree with many of the comments here, the new dark mode is essentially forcing a high contrast theme (okay, we could use light...) rather than having it as an option. Providing a choice to the user seems like the right way to go. Take a look at GitHub.com as an example; you can configure light and dark to suit your personal preference. If you don't want to offer that level of customization, at least give us three options; light, dark, extra dark ("night" as suggested below). In future, it would be nice to have something like this rolled out as an optional change with an easily accessible feedback point. I know people are often adverse to changes to UI, but this is not something I will get used to - no other application that I use has this level of contrast and it feels entirely unnecessary, switching between my "work" and my "productivity" should be fairly seamless, not a very jarring experience.
