customize task layout

task layout is currently frozen and wooden. i need it to fit my application. specifically:
--let me change label of Task Name field. eg, Contact Name, Company Name, Product Name, etc.
--have no need for the Description Field. either let me hide it or move it to the bottom.
--let me move all fields around, not just custom fields. let me put them in any order i want to facilitate data entry.

I completely agree, having a rigid task layout can slow things down when your workflow demands flexibility, and the ability to rename fields, hide unnecessary ones, and freely reorder everything would make LemTask https://lemtask.com/ far more adaptable to real-world use cases.

Reorder Task Layout - Subtasks and Custom Fields
Adam Hammond
Currently, when opening a task, the section order is: Custom Fields > Subtasks > Related. I’m requesting the ability to reorder these sections—ideally at the Space level or wherever possible—so that subtasks can be shown before custom fields.
The problem:
When there are a large number of custom fields, we have to scroll through a lot of dead space before reaching the subtasks. This slows us down and makes task management less efficient. Having the option to display subtasks above custom fields would significantly improve our workflow, save time while reducing missed subtasks.
Why this matters:
Some users may prefer the current layout, especially if they don’t use many custom fields or buttons. However, for teams like ours that rely heavily on subtasks and have a large number of custom fields, being able to restructure the layout, even just to move subtasks above custom fields, would make a big difference. This flexibility would allow many people to tailor ClickUp to better fit the specific business needs.

Change task layout (or make editable?) so subtasks/checklists are more easily visible
Ash
Task layout would be much more useful if I could see subtasks/checklists at a glance, instead of needing to scroll down to the bottom of the task.
Sometimes I forget to scroll down and therefore I miss a proper overview of subtasks involved.

+1 this is badly needed. Most of our tasks have all the important info in Custom Fields. I need the ability to put some of them in the top summary section. Being able to do this by Task Type would be great. Please add this!

Yes please.
We have a team member that can't use Clickup because the layout and our details in the task is too cluttered with details and information. We would like each team member to be able to design the task cards to their needs. She actually just need to see the name of the task, the description and the comments. Nothing else.
When activating this feature it would be nice to:
- be able to "build" your own layout in the settings.
- Have a toggle in the settings if you want this to be your primary view of the task cards
- have a toggle/tab on the task cards to switch between seeing your customized layout vs the original layout (just in case that you some times need to see some details that is not included in the customized layout).

Would love to be able to customize the layout and location of fields in the task background.

The project manager's objects are adapted so that you can implement elements that you don't have, such as clients. However, it is not possible to make that when you go to see a customer the data that appears is the customer's and not the same as that of a conventional task.

Really need to be able to add an Alias to the 'Name' field! Otherwise users don't know what is meant by the 'Name' field, and it becomes a nightmare in formulas and rollups trying to figure out which 'Name' field to use. Some alias examples that I want to be able to put for the 'Name' field, depending on the list: 'Position Title', 'Client', and 'Project'.

I think that customizing the task layout would be GREAT!!!
Agree with Lee Salzman's needs! Let'us hide sections we don't need or let us move them around (also the custom fields section that should be used from the list view but you wouldn't have it inside the task)
I believe that everything within the tasks should be 100% customizable and that it should also be editable through templates, even by selecting multiple tasks at once.
