Custom Fields in Free Plan
Stephanie Rogalsky
I was using custom fields and the definition of "100 uses" was not clear in the beginning. It is not "100 entries" or "100 fields." Every change counts as a "use." It is heavily integrated into my work flow. And now it just doesn't work at all. I can't delete fields/entries and make room for others. So I can't continue working. This is a sudden halt to my work.
I would prefer for the free plan to have xx custom fields instead. As a startup, we can't afford to get an upgraded plan just for this. So we would need to change our entire organization structure.
With the current system, it forced me to completely stop work today. There is no temporary work-around option. Either we upgrade or we can't work in this system.

Please consider adding unlimited custom fields for at least one user within SMB organizations on the free plan. This would provide a powerful tool for advocates to demonstrate the platform's value and build a strong case for wider adoption!!!!!

I was using notion but i ran out of free blocks so i came to click up but click up does not have free custom feilds! so now i think about going back to notion cause at least with the plan in notion you would get more.

I found a solution - just downloaded Notion. I can put in unlimited fields for free.

I like CU setup and views better than some other options, but with this limit on the custom fields, without warning as to what "uses" actually means means I had to stop my workspace set up. As a startup business, I can't afford to add in a cost for this software, please fix this.

I just started using ClickUp and been loving the Free plan just until this happened. Freelancers, like me, who manages client projects and business tasks needed this feature more. If ClickUp can solve this, hopefully soon, I won't need to ditch the app totally.

Francheska May Dante This happened to me too and I share the same feeling. I am thinking of putting a warning out there warning people intending to use the Free Plan about this experience so they don't waste valuable time evaluating the if they know they won't be able to switch to the paid version anytime soon.

Hmmm. Was putting together a rough draft of a workspace and folders with tasks to show to my boss who uses Notion. I figured CU would be less stressful for them since the interface seemed less cluttered. But I can't even demo it to them since I was locked out of custom field uses as I was setting it up. Was considering using CU for a production I will be working on next year, but I don't know if CU does anything that Notion can't with unlimited custom fields in the free plan and a much cheaper yearly cost.

100 uses is editing custom fields 100 times. NOT 100 custom fields. It would be better to limit the # of custom fields instead. I have seen many feature requests like this before like these links below
https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/remove-the-100-use-rule-for-gantt-charts (What I made myself)
If you agree that the 100 uses is not a good rule to have, please vote on these posts to show your support

This behavior is abhorrent, and hostile to the user. There's no indication oh how or where this is being counted. You're just going along lovingly and meticulously building & testing your beautiful perfect system, and then one day, without warning, BAM, it all just breaks - MONEY PLEASE. I could understand a max number of custom fields per workspace. This is hateful and disturbing.

I know I am limited to 100 'uses' of custom fields, but unsure what that means. Also, is there a way to see how many you have used of this and other limited functions. Thanks
