Create tasks from Docs

I use docs for creating meeting minutes. During these meetings tasks are identified. It would be great when using the slash (/) command a check box would be created and the tasks would automatically pop-up in your inbox.

Is there a way to do the opposite? From the task window, embed the task into the doc?

Hello. Does anyone know if this functionality been disabled? I am not able to create tasks within docs by highlighting the text anymore. Thanks

Ivan Villa: Works nice! Two more requirements here: 1) Could the full lenght of the text for which you created a task, stay readable in the document (you now only see a part of the text and 2) could the created task have a link back to the document from which it has been created?
Ivan Villa
Pascal Zweipfenning: Hey Pascal! for #2 we do have that planned just didn't make it out in the initial weeks release, stay tuned :) For #1 if you hover over the task you actually get a rich detailed hover with full name and all the data. Just to be clear are you looking for a way to disable that and just have regular link to tasks with full string?
Pascal Zweipfenning
Ivan Villa: Hi Ivan, on #1 I would like to to have the full text readable with a link and just underline the text. The visible task number created is not of added value (at least to me). Not sure if that from a technical standpoint is feasible., #2👍

Ivan Villa: Hi Ivan, the page does not exist anymore. Do you have a new link or a reference to the ClickUp knowledge base on how to create a rask from Docs? I did a google search with "Create tasks from Docs in ClickUp" and I ended up here, saying it's possible, but did not find the information on the ClickUp knowledge base (hit is not list as a possibility in here: https://help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/articles/6309647350807-Create-a-task)
Many thanks!

Awesome idea! Sooooo many action Items come out of meetings...docs is a great place to write them down, but need to be able to convert them over to tasks though

It would be great if you could also do this in the notepad

YES! and what you specifically mentioned where you have multiple tasks per document (or NOTE!) - I love that you can convert notes to tasks... but sometimes one note may have multiple tasks in it

The ability to create tasks from within docs is coming in Docs V2. Actually to clarify developers have already started working on it 🙌

Ivan Villa:
Great! Hope they will:
- land in inbox
- be searchable
- be represented in different views - list / board / calendar
Thanks!

Ivan Villa: Very glad this is coming! Same use case for team meetings. Will they be able to be viewed in the Doc in context and also inside the Project / List they were created? Ideally you would be able to use the slash command or a ## to be able to search/reference an existing task or have the option to create a new task/list.

Ivan Villa: This is exciting Ivan!
- Some additional stuff I think would be great: Will the task have a view or link of the Doc it's mentioned in, so this won't be just a one way set-up? It's great to be able to look at a task and see how many times it was mentioned in meetings? That could even be registered in Comments...
- Any chance this will be available in the canvas of tasks? I am still not settled on whether a Doc, or a Task, is the best entity for a Meeting. Because with a Task, you can do things like schedule, have better comments, etc. so in a lot of ways they are better for meetings. But I'd love to be able to create a task out of the meeting note. If that will only be available in Docs, then perhaps I'll move to Docs for the time being...
- It would be super if you guys could allow for all entity types to be available to create this way - lists, spaces, views, goals. They are all things that would be talked about in meetings, and thus being able to create them quickly when they are first talked about is a huge bonus.
Thanks Ivan!

Ivan Villa: Hoping you are considering a keyboard shortcut to convert selected text to task. e.g. In RoamResearch.com I use Ctrl+enter to convert to a "Todo" and cycle through the statuses.
