This was addressed earlier today in the cfm-beta channel.

Sean added that when you press Edit from a column, you see a small edit modal (like V2), but for now we wanted to consolidate 3 very different modals that the user gets to from very different entry points. (Manage CF from List Settings, Edit CF, Field Library)

We have plans to flesh this out further once we collect all of the feedback and understand the different pain points and areas of confusion.

Very good call out on the wasted space! As you build out your Custom Fields further, the Edit Sidebar will continue to grow and eventually even need a scrollbar if it comes to that.

The input structure atm is strange. We should have things be equal.

We could display the field field as a dropdown vs a large overlay

We shouldn't show the backdrop section as it's not relevant to what I clicked on (edit a specific field)

We also have a lot of wasted space underneath the field options
